Hey can someone post up the radiator mounts  for a 86 200sx turbo thinking of a different way to mount my intercooler without cutting my bumper and hidding it a little bit and another pic looking down from above the radiator would be nice to thanks in advance

The only rad mounts are the two threaded mounts up top and the two rubber grommets down below, nothing really worth while for mounting an intercooler.

Just an idea though, here's how I mounted mine:

yea was thinkin bout mounting behind my radiator with a gap in between since its jus a shitty one thats pretty small hangin around or mounting facing the ground but could see that getting water soaked but i dont want to cut up a amazing bumper for this and its all orginal and perfect

Would be better in front. The air behind your radiator is a much warmer than the air in front, thus defeating the purpose of an air-to-air intercooler. But, I understand wanting to keep it inside, the sleeper look.

not so much  of a sleeper look jus dont want to ruin the bumper yet since im gonna eventually ca18det swap it instead of the ca18et and will get a better intercooler than and will elminate ac and front mount my intercooler

you would be better off running no intercooler at all than running an intercooler BEHIND the radiator...placing it in this spot makes it an interheater, which is a very bad thing indeed.  You would see better response and likely similar final intake temperatures by running NO intercooler at all.

Mount it in the front or just forget it and think about meth inj. instead.

hmmm ive seen it done before or mounted downwards by the lower of the body with an duct with lower intake temps

why not just mount it in front where the AC is now, since you are going to swap motors and delete the AC later?

and as far as a IC at the bottom ( if im thinking along the same lines as you are) , you would need some sort of extractor at the top of the hood to help the airflow, and it just seems like a lot of trouble to do that if you are going to redo it soon

s-chassis_onlyNov 18, 2010, 1:07 am · #9

i would delete the ac now but i want it for now might keep it still debating since its gonna be my daily and not a track car

I did mine like this, i still have to make a air dam that forces all the air to go into the intercooler, and get a fan but im really happy with how it turned out, if you want to do a ca18det this takes up the huge gap in between the motor and the radiator support. Also makes your bay look sick

good idea hostile but how does ur radiator mount up

hostile s12Nov 19, 2010, 3:28 am · #13

I welded in flat pieces of metal onto the frame rails then drilled holes and bolted the radiator to them. Idk if that will work with other radiators but you should be able to figure out some way to mount it.
You can kinda see how i did it in these pics.

niceeeee, I love the wheel wells, fucking sick s12 hostile.  Ca18det ftw!  I love mine ^@^.  I mounted mine on my tension rod brackets, it's a smaller radiator/intercooler setup though so I'm not sure how that would work for your setup

s-chassis_onlyNov 19, 2010, 4:25 am · #15

ya my intercooler is alot smaller but im sure i could make it work some how and love the color of your engine bay

hostile s12Nov 19, 2010, 6:29 am · #16

Thanks guys, yea im going to start a build thread soon so everyone can see how i did the tubs and everything else, the color of the bay is Canteen green its a stock Nissan color that came on the titan trucks, im going to do the whole car the color too.

Plenty of room out front  with the a/c.

Just paint it black if you want to hide it.
