Hi,
Did a search but no dice. I noticed that my car is hesitating when I stomp the pedal. I smell gasoline afterwards and am thinking that it's getting to much fuel?
It also smells of gas when I fill it up too. Maybe the tank has problems too? Bad fuel line or something?
So....
Where is the fuel pressure regulator,
And what is the normal reading for the 02 sensor?
Any other ideas? Thanks for your help!
Neil
Smell Gas, Hesitates When Gunning It, Where Is Fpr?
Could be a leaky injector if it's hesitating under throttle.
WE need more info about your car before we can really help.
IS it CA20, VG, CA18et?
NVM....your profile says VG. THE FPR is at the front of the plenum.
..check your injectors....there is a Nissan safety recall/campaign regarding them[free replacement]...cars were catching on fire!
INJECTORS!!!
Could be FPR I guess, thats the little spaceship right above the radiator fill area. Its like a little gold hat can't miss it.

Thanks to you all. I'll check the FPR and do some research to see if my car had ever been recalled.
Forgot to mention this before, but it really smelled of gas the last (and only) time that I filled the the tank. I was driving on the highway with the windows down and it still smelled pretty bad.
While driving highway speeds, would the fumes have to be coming from the engine bay to smell up the cabin that bad? I'm thinking this because I laid down under the car after driving it and the gas tank area did not smell bad at all.
Thanks,
Life has so many variables, I mean no way of knowing why you smelled gas but most likely is a leak in a gas line or the orings for your injectors.
Run it and get your face up into your engine bay and smell around trying to pinpoint where it is coming from.

I vote for a leaky seal around the fuel pump.
as far as hesitation goes, check your MAF, make certain it doesnt have any debris on that screen, and it doesnt look all mucked up or anything.
im thinkin maybe the TPS is out of adjustment. that'll cause a delay when the pedal is mashed for sure. but then it will run fine. oh, and whenthe car accelerates, th fuel could be sloshing around, and out the top of the tank where the pump is (that leaky seal thing again).
have you checked/set base timing?
hmmm.. check your fuel pressure.. that should narrow down if your getting a bad leak.

You guys are going to love this. I checked the access plate to the pump and it looked ok. Then I put the rear up on blocks and had a look. I found a little 1/4 inch hole that had a matching hole right above it in the trunk bed.
Somebody drilled a hole through the floor of the hatch area and drilled through the tank as well!! OMG what a genius move that was. That's why it smelled worse after filling it up and taking corners fast.
I covered the hole with some RTV. Hopefully that takes care of it. Don't know if it will solve the hesitation but who knows?
I simplified my vac line set up (and turned my boost down a lil bit) and it fixed my hesitation I was getting at WOT
check your vac lines and shizzzznit

I checked with the dealer. No injector recall. Darn! There is a seatbelt recall though.

what do you mean "no injector recall"? no as in the car was never taken in to get the injectors replaced or no as in the dealer lied to your face about the existence of the recall?

I'm saying that the service department guy ran the VIN# and said that this car did not show up as being recalled for that particular problem. No mention of whether it had already been recalled/serviced or anything like that.
ah, then you should definitely get that taken care of.
yup, you may want to print the recall off to show him. That shit needs done asap, as it can set the car on fire in a worst case scenario.

I talked and fought with my local dealer, and they said they couldn't do it because they couldn't get the fuel lines (bs). And they went on to say its not their problem
In that situation i'd go to small claims and say hey judge, this idiot dealership is saying that a mandatory recall on their make of vehicle is "not their problem". What is your take on that?
