I ahvent run a KA in a KA myself, but I would think that there is a whole lot of stuff needed for that. rofl.  May want to edit the title there man.

I would imagine running an auto KA in an s12 is much like it is running a 5 speed KA.  Just need to swap over the harnesses to make sure you keep all the auto ancillaries.

a lot of david's spare sohc kas were automatic engines he converted to run as 5 speeds...but i dont think anyone has done a ka automatic into a s12 automatic...but it shouldnt be too hard if your too lazy to shift.

haha, nice jab sam.
no its just that at the moment if i get the 12 i dont want too much downtime between it and the z so i want to alternate. plus the z is fivespeed. oh well guess i shoul quit bitchin and just do the fivespeed swap. but a high hp auto could be kinda fun though.

S13 KA tr ans is fully electronically controlled and is a generation newer than the S12 trans.  It is a fully integral 4 speed unit (unlike the S12s, which is 3spd with overdrive unit attached) and is quite a bit larger than an S12 unit.  I think you'd have a hard time fitting it in the tunnel, and its much more complex wiring-wise.  IIRC the S13 auto trans has a separate control module, so you would need to lift portions of the chassis harness from the s13 related to the transmission to work properly, and combine it with the s12 chassis.  could it be done?  I would imagine, but I don't see it being worthwhile at all.  I think if you were set on a hi-pro auto setup, a built stock trans behind a CA18DET would be the way to go, seeing as that motor would bolt right up.
