I cut and pasted this from the electrical section to the VG section in hopes to generate a response.

I am trying to fire-up the "Beast" and have some electrical issues that have cropped up. I have looked on the forum for 87 SE wiring diagrams but no such luck. There was an 87 FSM for sale just today but I missed that one too.

I can not get the starter to crank with OE wiring, I have bypassed using a jumper lead. can not diagnose the problem with out the proper w/o the proper shit. I have checked the neutral switch with a jumper wire, no luck. I have not confirmed if there is a clutch lever switch or not, too dark and late.

The engine fired up on the first try (with jumper),yeah! But quit shortly after due to the fuel pump not staying on, boo. I suspect the oil pressure sensor but I am not sure if the OPS is what tells the ECU to keep the fuel pump on or if the coil/distributor sends the signal. Again no diagram to do any trouble shooting with.

I wired in a two-wire oil pressure sensor, the original one-wire sensor was in-op. I provided a return ground as part of the re-wire, I am now thinking this could have been flawed logic.

I may try to just jumper/ground the OE wire to diagnose, but this may not even be the meat of the issue.

Can someone be so kind and scan the appropriate wire diagram pages for me and send them over right away?  Beuller?

TIA, Wolf

i can scan whatever you need...

unplug the oil press sensor, it has no effect on running, as most of the time they dont work anyways

some sort of degreasing agent, a wire brush, and a gentle hand lol

I just bid on a local 88FSM, I'm talking the guy into letting me pick it up avoiding the shipping. Only $20 Well worth it after borrowing Gustavo's (88hatch).

again, last time ill say it, theres a couple minor differences between the 87 and 88 - just don't drive yourself nuts trying to figure out why the AIV isnt in the FSM

Where did you guys buy the NGK spark plug wires for the VG30E for the 200sx.  I read that the ones for the 300zx work but they come a little short.

I want the NGK spark plug wires for the 200sx ..sparkplugs.com didn't list them only listed spark plug wires made by denso.

thanks

Hmmm, tempting ^^^.  I have a complete 87 manual on the way... but you can never have enough documentation, eh?

Wolf DilworthJul 11, 2010, 7:04 am · #14

Manual hit the door today, it is all there and in great shape.  I took it in the "Library" for some readin' legs fell asleep before I finally flushed/finished the first chapter.

Happy happy joy joy...

Lol, too much info man! Can't say I wouldn't have done the same. May be on the look for a 88 fsm myself. Can never hurt to own one anyways.

Well, here's hoping you get her running.

Btw, ren and stimpy was the shizzat in its day!

i actually bought that exact set for my car from there.

I wasn't all that impressed with the quality/fitment of the NGK wires. I got denso wires from somewhere (i think autozone actually) and they fit MUCH nicer. a little pricy, but worth it.
