grats!
best day of your life? That's pretty sad
Congrats though...any pics?
pics and or vid or fail. but awesome shit. be good to her.
Hahahaha nice can't wait ti get mine running perfectly
Lol, so it only lasted 2 days before it broke down. I thought it was something serious but my friend who is more knowledgeable then me let me know it's just seized water pump . I just ordered a new 1 from from napa for 50 bucks, should be here on tuesday!
Takes time to work out all of the bugs. Glad to hear it was something easy.
nismologistpics and or vid or fail. but awesome shit. be good to her.
+1
Congrats, maybe one day I'll have mine running perfect too!!!!
Alright, new pump is on. The only problem is I didn't mark my timing belt, I'm basically retarded. I never took it off the bottom cog though so I'm hoping I just put it back in the right place. At least I did mark the cam angle sensor.
EDIT: Just noticed it was already marked phew I'm lucky!
Alright, so I got everything put back together with the timing belt on the marks etc. But now when I try and start it, it will crank but not spark ><. Any tips? CAS is lined up with my marks I made but I turned the cam gears to get the belt on the right spot. Could that potentially have messed up where the CAS needs to be?

Could that potentially have messed up where the CAS needs to be?Have you pulled the top timing cover off to check the belt? When I installed my motor, I over tensioned the timing belt, and when I cranked it, it apparently popped off the cam gears. I re-wired 2 times before I decided to pull the timing cover....and when I did, thats what had happened.
Hmmm, no I haven't, I think I'll give it a looksie right now. Thanks for the advice!
Alright, so upon further inspection. I realized the belt is now not lined up with my marks. I also realized I didn't tighten down the tensioner bolt ><. Would that cause it not to start? I hope so.
RoofAlright, so upon further inspection. I realized the belt is now not lined up with my marks. I also realized I didn't tighten down the tensioner bolt ><. Would that cause it not to start? I hope so.If the belt is loose due to not tightening the tensioner bolt and the cam pulleys rotated seperate from the crank pulley when you tried to crank it, then yes.....this will cause a no start issue.
Pull the belt, put everything back to TDC and start over with the belt install.....just remember to tighten down the tensioner
Remember not to over tension the belt, as it will work itself off the cam pulleys if you do so. When you get the belt on....rotate the assembly by hand several rotations by hand....and watch the belt on the cam pulleys.....if should stay centered, if it starts working it's way forward, then it's over tightened. Loosen a bit and check again. Now on the other hand you don't want it too loose either obviously. The way I checked for this was put the top cover on and rotate the assembly by hand....if you hear the tensioner rubbing on the top cover, then it's too loose. Tighten the tensioner a little, and re-check. Once the tensioner is not rubbing on the top cover, and the belt is not trying to work itself off of the pulleys, then you found your sweet spot. I set mine up this way after having over tight/ under tight scenarios, and have had no problems.
Good luck
i just printed out all the info on changing the timming belt for mine off of All-Data, since I gotta change the water pump, and having done it not even 5000km ago, I know I get to play with the timming belt as well, so figured I'd order a new one to replace it while Im doin the pump...
at any rate, it said something about turning it by hand 2 full rotations in order to get the correct tension or something.. I thought it was wierd, but meh, whatever..
although mines a ca20e, Id suspect the 18et would be pretty much the same...
Not to highjack or anything, but are these motors non interference?
Noob question, ya ya
No, there interference
