I have an 1984 200sx turbo with the ca18et motor and the fs5w71b transmission, it has a broken countershaft, I would like to swap it out and put in an fs5w71c. I'm new to the import car scene so I don't know from what year or model I need to get the transmission from and what else I need, like shifter or driveshaft to complete the swap. Any help would greatly appreciated. Thanks.

where are you located? you should update that, its required. im guessing from your name you are from oklahoma?

the problem with finding a 'c' trans is that you will need the bellhousing for the ca motor, but the rest of the trans can be sourced from a 240 or other cars. you will need the front half of the driveshaft from a 240, 200, or whatever you got the trans from. im pretty sure im correct, anyone that can provide a little more details can feel free to chime in.

if you are from ok. then there is a chance i have a 'c' trans from a ca motor that i can sell you, i'll have to look and see if i have one i can spare...

Yeah, I'm  from Ok. I'm in Midwest City. I'm  new to this forum thing so you'll have to bear with me while I learn what I'm doing. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I would be interested in the transmission

Check your build date. If before May '84 your CA case won't fit the later C type trannys without swapping a 56mm counter shaft bearing on in place of the 62mm that is on all C types. Failure of the 56mm bearing will cause loss of support for the front of the counter shaft which will flex under load and snap off just forward of the adapter plate. This is why Nissan went to the larger 62mm bearing.

The 56mm bearing is Nissan #32210 E9000. Be sure to use a new one.

Yes you are correct presuming that he is swapping bell housings.  he can swap an entire MKII S12 C tranny without having that issue.

will be the easiest way, but im unsure if the driveshaft will be the correct length, i know the trans mount will be different

I believe you need the C S12 front half.

I appreciate the information, I'll need all the help I can get. I'm new to nissan's so i'm still learning. Thanks again for the help.

I got a  c transmission out of an 88 200sx 2.0l motor, the bellhousing looks the same but the sensors are in a different position and there are only 2 of them, my b transmission has 3 sensors. The transmission looks like it will fit but I'll have to adapt the crossmember and shorten the front driveshaft. Does that sound right, and what about the sensors. Thanks

yes, i believe you will need the front half of the driveshaft either shortened or just replace it with the driveshaft section from the car that you got the tranny from. i have both the 84 and 86+ fsm's so it should be pretty easy to sort out the trans. sensors. p.m. me and i can help you sort it out.
