I figured that now is a great time to check on the status of the members who regularly visit Club-S12, and see what kind of connection we all have to the S12 community. So please pick your poll answers so we can get a feel for the way things are  And feel free to discuss the results here, too

First car, only car and still own it. Doesn't run due to bad luck, but I fight hard against the jinx and will very soon make it spin like a sexy cat.

i was honest and put it as one running s12, but ive owned 3 others

I selected "I own multiple S12's and TWO or more of them RUN!" because both the blue car and the multi-colored car run. Even tho only the blue car is streetable

LeegamerFeb 2, 2010, 7:41 pm · #5

I currently have 2.

1 runs, but like shit.

+1 My vg30e runs like shit when it's cold. When it get to operating temp it runs like a beast.

when mine gets to operating temperature the power steering pump starts whining and complaining. can't win! haha.

Mine used to run!!! Now not so much.

DraconisFeb 2, 2010, 10:03 pm · #16

I guess I was baller since I had many S12s that ran at one time.  I forgot how many.   But *sigh* I am no longer baller.  I sold them all and settled for just keeping 1 and branching out and getting a 944 and now playing with an FC3S.  Ah well, my 1 S12 is more than enough anyway.

2 s12's running/driving/drifting etc.

XanoFeb 2, 2010, 11:00 pm · #19

Apparently I fit into the most common results for each question so far haha.

I own a running S12, I'm between 21-27, and an S12 was the first car I paid for with my own money.

LeegamerClassic VG, warm blooded.
And I have to disagree with this though at least in my experience.  BOTH VG S12's I've had have ran almost better during warm up.

lol i guess mine never really "ran" got it started when i bought it, but knew it was being swapped.

i ran into so many electrical nightmares with it but now its back on track; as soon as i get my fuel pump she be done! (for now)

JonBFeb 3, 2010, 1:00 am · #25

Running, but I had one before. It ran to.

For sure wasn't my first car, more like my fifth and sixth or somthing.

My second favorite of the cars I've owned. And I've owned 200s for about ten years.

I'm 33.

Mine runs ok cold, But I can easily feel that it's cold and try to baby it till it warms up. The shifter feels like someone filled the transmission with molten rubber when it's cold. If I stop out somewhere, I try to be fast because I'm loosing heat.

It seems to be quickest in second gear, first just seems to make alotta noise and not throw me back in the seat, there's just no rush of speed like in second.

Current problems are;

Exhaust rattles when hot - not my fault, I outsourced labor for it because I was to busy in the summer.

Front bumper squeaks- not may falut, same as above, The body guy lost a part and now I gotta make another.

Gas gauge is wrong- my fault somehow.

Breaks need work- I'm using front calipers from the junk yard, they just now went bad after a few years.
I'm going to rebuild all the calipers myself, I've never done that before.

Needs paint again- My fault cause I don't have full coverage, but someone else hit it.

I have 2 both are currently down I will be picking up third here soon that is running so i can focus on the red and not rush it. I was baller at one point because they both used to run actually the red one runs but like ass lol

seishukuFeb 3, 2010, 5:01 am · #27

I daily drive the crap out of mine, for nearly 4 straight years now. The only time it was ever down, was when the fusible links rotted out (battery acid damage), and during the SR swap.

Of course that was well after getting it road ready after buying it, but it didn't have insurance or plates on it for that time anyway.

XanoFeb 3, 2010, 5:05 am · #28

I've Dailied 2 of the 3 that I've owned .  My last one sat during the winter at least, thanks to a valiant effort by a Geo Metro to try to go over 55 every day

ArroFeb 3, 2010, 5:17 am · #29

So far 32 of you have voted. 32 voters in less than a day is pretty good, that means that at least 32 people are regularly active.

GrantFeb 3, 2010, 5:28 am · #30

Yeah, I try to be active but difficult with no comp. Lately, I'll respond on the blackberry, like now, and just view new posts using the psp. Would rather not trying to reapond on that, don't feel like going through and selecting every letter. At least the BB has a mini keyboard to use.

The 200 is like my 8th car and I'm 26. (Well, in like 19 days anyways) So far, she's my favorite car.

D-sport S12Feb 3, 2010, 6:52 am · #31

I forgot i had 2 s12's until i put my results in the poll.
Im still only 18, my first car, my Sr'd one got rod knock so doesn't really run.
And my other S12 is a parts car and is a CA20 and doesnt run

Being the token "Old Fart" (Check the results, that's me) I am more than twice the average age of the group, booyah!  We all have a common interest and we all bring different skill-sets to the table.  I find this group to be fairly mature, all things considered.

Hey "Navy Mech2"  Which "Mech" are you?  MM or AD? Are you active duty still?

I retired in 2005, served on both coasts with seven years "sea counter" six + deployments and still did not make chief, not that I wanted to.  The Navy was the greatest and worst job I ever had, I just liked being in the shop workin on the jets (Tomcats and Prowlers) rather than a desk jockey.

Fair winds and following seas.

I own 1 runner. 20 years old... soooooo close!!! The s12 is my sixth car. Outside of previously owned family vehicles I only purchased a Jeep Cherokee 2dr 5 speed 4 liter beast for 700 and traded through two more cars and ended up with the s12.

Side note, first s12 I ever saw: had no clue what it was but asked the kid if he wanted to trade there on the spot because I liked how it looked and saw a diff in the back. It was a POS turbo car, but! it had way more style and originality than my escort in nice condition.

blue streakFeb 4, 2010, 6:27 pm · #35

Mine was basically a rescue. I had visited Turbo Tom's shop a few times & saw it there. He was building for some guy from NY.  When Tom finished it, the guy disappeared. He'd paid some money, but never came back to get it. Tom had to repo it. My bud ended up buying for the remaining balance. But alas, my friend is LAZY and never really did anything with it. It sat for I know 6 or 7 years collecting dust & leaves. I finally convinced him to sell it to my. I was going to just getit running & sell it for a profit. But I fell in love with the POS & have had it for about 3 yrs now. I'll eventually sell or trade it, but having fun till I do! PS, if I do get rid of it, It'll be replaced with another( maybe a coupe or a SE)

Oh yeah, I'm 39 this march w/ 4 kids.

Well, I am 21, have 3 200's, one parts, one is my beater and DD (just got it up and running after egr delete and pop charger install), and the other is a mint 88 white coupe that is in storage. I am waiting until i can do something real big with it. I also own a Z32 300ZX NA 5 spd. It's my baby and it is the big project right now. I also have a 1983 Plymouth Gran Fury, old detectives car, full bolt on 360 Cubic inch muscle.

Wtf jason......although Wolf's B-day is the same day as mine....he's got several years on me.  I'm still in my 30's.....jackass

There are several that are older than me.... Greg, Ted, and Bruse to name a few.  Oh, and you are less than 3 years younger than I am, so you're almost as close to "token old guy" status as I am btw, plus your in the same above age group as I am too.

Anywho, my s12 runs, but she hasn't seen daylight or even been cranked in probably a month or so...speaking of which, I probably should back it out of the garage this weekend and let it run for a while.
bluke1Feb 6, 2010, 2:47 pm · #41

i finally saw this post, great poll topic! i have 4, a se that i daily drive, a notch racecar that normally runs but i have it apart for a ka swap (which should be running in a month or so) another notch that is getting a ka right after the racecar, and a parts car. im 34. i have owned 3-4 other s12s, but all were parts cars except one.

sam31183Feb 7, 2010, 1:14 am · #42

one kade s12 notch (daily, and loving it), one 18det s12 hatch (long term race project/parts car...i am insane!)

26 years of age, will be 27 in march. I am also a college student.

S12 was not my first car...78 ford granada...then the hatch, then a z31, then a 626, then a notch...oh, and there was an fb rx7 in there some where. My favorite cars are the 626 and the s12 notch...you cant beat the torque of those two engines...i love em.

I was referring to the ka...gah, i havent driven a 20e car in forever...or should i say i havent revved the piss out of a 20e car in forever...yah, that sounds more correct.

TX200sxFeb 10, 2010, 4:45 pm · #45

I have had several cars I bought my s-12 as a project/track only car but I have honestly found sourcing parts much harder than I guessed. But I will continue to send money as I believe that someday it will be the head turning rocket ship or rails that I want it to be.

8SixS12Feb 22, 2010, 3:56 am · #46

I fall into the "wow. Seriously?" group.  Yup I'm 37!  And I thought Bluestreak was younger than me! He sounds much younger than me over the phone.  Anyway, I'm a Nissan tech by trade and figured it was time to own a project car that I could get easy access to parts and tech info, etc.(boy was I wrong!)  I did'nt want a 240 or anything like that because every ricer kid in GA has one. It needed to be RWD, light weight, and have fairly good old school looks. I saw the CS12 compilation video on youtube by accident and it was on!  I hunted around for awhile looking for a notch with no luck.  So one day I was on ebay and there it was, my turbo hatch.  So before I knew it I bought this thing site unseen and had it shipped from the west coast.  I still think I paid too much but, what can I say?...I'm in love!  Just don't tell my wife okay.  Oh yeah, t's still running but my T2 finally took a dump.  I'm just waiting for a new GT2560RS to come in so I can drive it 'till the KA-T is done.
