Engine Stalls When Cold

Hello,

Since a couple of weeks, I have a Silvia S12 with the FJ20E engine. The car is from july 1984 and has done 136.000 km. Since the moment I own it, the engine stalls when it's cold. The engine keeps running if I give a bit more gas when starting, so it looks like the engine doesn't inject extra fuel when the engine is cold. Even when I manually give extra gas, the engine runs terrible, very irregular and so. It also uses a lot more fuel then ought to be normal, even when driving normal (about 1:8). The problems disappear when the engine is warm, then it runs nearly beautiful, apart from the fact that the engine keeps shaking a bit when running stationary. Does anybody know what's the problem, what's broken or how I can figure that out? Thanks in advance!

I don't know a lot about the FJ, but I would check into any type of temp sensor that it might have, whether it's coolant temp, cyllinder head temp, etc.

Or just run ecu codes.

I thought about that, but that doesn't explain why the car uses such a high amount of fuel, even when driving normal. Please correct me if i'm wrong

How can I run those ECU codes and see if there's an error somewhere? Thanks in advance!

maybe, along w/ a bad temp sensor, your Thermostat is sticking open a bit? you can't always trust the dash guages, more so on an older car.

check those codes, be sure every thing is in good working order (plugs/wires cap n' rotor, fuel filter, air filter, compression, fuel pressure, Ign. timing.) and we can go from there.

Thanks for your help, I'll check all those, but how can I check the ECU codes? Thanks!
