Well, folks...I've gone and done it. I'm bringing an original owner 87 SE V6 to our little family here. I'm in Texas and she is in Virginia. I'll post more in a little while. Gotta get the finances in order to make the payment. $860. Can you believe that?
Ok, will post more details in a little while. I'm really excited. :-)))))))))))))

Ongoing Updates 87SEV6
where from va?
Is this just an addition to one one you already have or did you get rid of your last SE?

I still have my 88. It's in storage for the summer. Needs new battery cables. I have the cable, just haven't put them on yet. I still drive her once every two weeks.
So here's the info on the 1987 I just bought.
SE V6 Manual, 1 owner, 190k miles, light blue ext, blue int, new brakes, rotors, calipers
Bought on ebay, starting bid $600, final $860 (me, yeah)
Now, I say 1 owner because that is what the ad stated. I spoke to the guy on the phone and he explained he bought the car recently from the original owner, did the brakes, tune up and a family member became ill. Therefor he is not able to juggle his finances and his wife is making him sell it. He states that he hasn't even got the title transferred into his name yet. So, it's basically a one owner.

now thats a come up,
congrats to you
solid car. good color too
Congrats. That is my favorite color for the SE.

Thanks very much. Now I have the hardest part ahead of me.........waiting until September to go pick it up.

I've created a new entry over at Car Domain for this vehicle. Comments are welcome. But I'll go ahead and include the current info here as well.

On July 27th, 2009 I won this 1987 Nissan 200SX SE V6 Hatchback M/T on eBay for $860. It is currently over 1000 miles from my home. I plan to have it transported home in September.
This is what I currently know about the car after speaking with the seller.
He bought it from the original owner in November 2008 for $800. He began doing a tune-up and has only changed 3 of the plugs so far. He last drove the car on Thanksgiving when the right rear brake caliper began to stick. He replaced the rear rotors and bought new brake calipers which have not been installed yet. Due to circumstances, the car has been sitting without being started ever since. In fact he hasn't registered the car in his name yet. So for me, this would technically mean that records indicate one owner.
After a lengthy phone conversation I have learned the following about the car's condition:
Engine General: 190,000 miles, valve cover gasket leak, seller states engine is still strong but has a misfire, cruise control works, oil is dirty because it hasn't been changed.
Engine Cooling: No mention of any problems.
Engine Electrical: Battery is dead.
Fuel & Emissions: No mention of any problems.
Transmission: Seller states that clutch is in prime condition, shift knob missing, no word on fluid condition.
Propeller Shaft, Differential & Axles: No mention of any problems.
Body Electrical: High Beams work but there may be a short at the switch.
A/C & Heater: Seller states A/C compressor belt is missing and visual evidence of compressor damage.
Chassis & Suspension: Seller is including a pair of Monroe shocks, thus indicating rear shocks are worm out, also states rear bushings are deteriorated or missing, condition of power steering is unknown.
Brakes: Seller states read discs are new, right rear caliper is sticking, seller is providing new rear calipers and brake pads.
Wheels & Tires: No mention of any problems.
Body Exterior: Rear wiper assembly has been altered because of non working components, paint is fading, front chin spoiler is sagging in the middle (common), rear spoiler has a crack, something was mentioned about the rear amber turn signal but I can't recall now.
Body Interior: (Blue) Seller states that interior is heavily soiled in 1/4" dust from gravel road, seats are in good shape, drivers floor mat is worn out, stereo worked when he first got it but then stopped working, sunroof visor is sagging.
Documentation: Over 10 years of maintenance records, clear title.
Was that car on Craigslist? The price looks familar.
Nice steal.

Nice steal.
Saw that thing on ebay, I actually placed a bid, but got out-bid and went with my 500$ Turbo CA instead. He stated in the ebay ad that there were only so many of those cars built, I think he said like 500 or something? Is this true? Why is it that everyone wants to put numbers on these cars, like the on I just bought (85 turbo) The guy told me there were only 3000 ever made... I have a hard time believing it's all THAT rare...
I hope you're not planning on DRIVING it back to Texas with bad/missing bushings and a sticking caliper...

I read only 2,000 were made once, this seller said only 1,500 were made. Then this article from Hemmings Motor News states there were only 5,000 SE V6 models for 87 and 5000 made for 88. Very nice article by the way. And a good explanation of many things when it came to the decision to do the short lived V6 version of the 200SX.

I'm having the car transported on a truck directly to the mechanic shop that I use. On the other hand, the 1984 XE I just bought yesterday will be flat bed towed to my friend's body shop for disassembly.
Finally... Tuesday I will have the money together to get the 87 shipped to Texas. Another few weeks to go. Shipping the 84 this next week. Exciting. Well, I'm excited anyway.
Oh, yeah. Not that anyone needs it. But here's proof that I didn't get rid of red. I still drive her every day. It's been raining all night. I came out of the gas station and the lighting just looked right.
do you still have that newer civic? 3 S12s?!? not that I would know
looks good man hope it turns out to be a good car. I don't think many of the v6s were made in that color, its the same as my notch.

Yeah I still have the '08 Civic. I have been doing my best to keep the miles off of it. I stored it for about 8 months. When the extreme Texas heat got here, I started driving it a little more.
We've had a ton of rain in the passed week. I have been fishtailing my 88 and ragging on it a bit too much. Well, today after joyriding most of the day I looked down to notice my temperature was almost maxed. I shut off the a/c and turned the heat on full blast. That helped dissipate some heat. However, 20 minutes later as I was pulling up to the house, heater at full blast still, the temperature was near the top again. Lucky me, I shut her down and popped the hood. There is coolant pooling around the edges of the stock radiator. I did notice the upper radiator hose looks slightly loose. No pressure in the hose at all. Very odd that I can't smell any coolant, I just see it.
Anyway, I'm going to let the S12 rest for a few days and drive the Honda. I've got a massive concert tonight and just don't have room for anything else on my mind.
By the way, I got a call from the transport company yesterday. He told me the delivery truck expects to have the 87 here on the 22nd or 23rd.
Last, the 84 will be shipped/towed to my shop on Tuesday 22nd. I may get them both the same day. I've been bugging the owner of the 84 to get off his but and get the title reissued that he lost and to get air in the tires to have it ready for a truck to pick it up. I paid him August 8 and he's done nothing. I called the DMV and they ran the VIN and informed me his is the owner but the car is titled in Virginia. He would have to have the Virginia title reissued then get a Texas one just to transfer it to me. That explains why the guy is procrastinating. I've talked with him about it and he just started avoiding me completely and being a real ass. Well, I really want the parts on that car. A bill of sale will have to do. So I told him I'll need him to sign the bill of sale and I'll just not ever consider rebuilding the car.
Looks like to me, I'm going to get what I want off the car and end up parting the rest of it out unless someone wants to take it off my hands after I'm finished.
Either way, I'm not worrying about any of this right now.

SlickS12What a clean ride man. Look at her sparkle
Thanks very much. I was informed Friday morning that the truck that is supposed to be delivering my 87 on Tuesday or Wednesday has broken down and they won't be able to pick it up. So, we await another truck and a later delivery date.
Picked up the 84 tonight. It was raining and we just towed it home with a tow rope. I had to take pictures even thought it is dark. Will take some during the day as well. But here ya go.

Was informed again by the transport company to expect the 87 next Tuesday from a different carrier.
Nice! It looks great except....
The wheels are pretty ugly, no?
Looks clean. I like the wheels, so if you wanna get rid of them, PM me. Lol.
I hate the wheels. They are official Centerline brand. But yuck...... They look like they belong on a small truck.
Day pictures.

Cool!
Manual swap time?

So many things going on right now. I'm doing this whole 'Retro Live' series of shows as a solo keyboardist. That's my focus at the moment. Funding is so tight, it hurts.
Anyway, the 87 V6 SE will be here next week. That's the one I want to spend time on first. The 84 pictured above is just an extra car at this point. When it gets cold I won't do much with the cars because I'm a big wuss. I've got dry storage space either way. Hopefully we have decent weather for a while. My funds are tied up in my music right now. The idea was mainly to secure ownership and possession of these vehicles even if I can't get to them right now.

Thank you. I assume you're talking about 'Red' since blue hasn't arrived yet.
Understandable...I know all about having lots going on. If you do decide to get rid of those wheels, like I said...lemme know! Please.

Take down my email address and keep on me in a month or so. I don't want them but have to have something to roll on for the time being.

look at those clean door panels!!!
I spent all morning cleaning all the nasty, nasty filth out of this car. I thought I was going to be sick. How do people let their vehicles become a home to rodents. NASTY!!!!!
I started with Clorox disinfectant wipes and went through the whole can. Just took care of the vinyl and plastic and didn't even get behind the front seats. Scrub, scrub scrub. The I Armor All'd everything I cleaned. Yes I even did the cracked dash.
I took the extra dash (came out of an S12 that caught fire) into the garage and disassembled the dash pad from the plastic dash.
IMPORTANT: If you've never done this, there are 2 main screws that hold the padding on. The rest are metal tabs that must be bent straight with pliers. I didn't figure that out until the end after much frustration. Now, I know.
The pad cleaned up really good. So, the cracked pad in the car can be replaced with a fresh and clean one.
While cleaning the car out, I came across some weird looking disc things. Anyone know what they are? Can I throw them away?

Oh wow! Couldn't tell in the night pics, but this color is the same as the upper portion of my two-tone paint. Never seen another S12 with that color.
Awesome score man (on the SE, that is) can't wait to see what you do with it.. would be awesome if you really put some work into it and had 2 iconic SE's, the red and the blue

i dunno dude, they could be 4 lug grand prix wheel spacers lol.
they look like blocks, like used to lift or lower a car with leaf springs. unfortunately, you don't have those lol
EternalSwapthey look like blocks, like used to lift or lower a car with leaf springs. unfortunately, you don't have those lol
There's a little card inside that shows them as spacers in a fan assembly. Hmmmm? Better hang onto them. I learned a long time ago not to throw stuff away.
Anyway, pics of the 2 cars together coming up.
Called the seller of the 87 and he says the transport still hasn't picked the car up to deliver it to Texas. Grrrrrrr

Ha cool, my dad picked up my CA20 from VA back in 90 from some military guy with only about 45,000 miles on it. Back then he payed just under 2000 bucks. Mint when he got it, before my older brother got ahold of it.

Did your brother tear it up or something?
Funny about S12's and military people. My 88 was from a Marine and my 84 from an Air Force guy.

You look kind of like Seth Rogen.
Sorry, just watched "observe and report" last night...
On-topic: Your cars look excellent together...like long-lost brothers, united at last.
Seth Rogen here. Just kidding. Hey, my 87 showed up today. I took some photos. OK, I took lots of photos.

congrats, it looks like a good purchase!
did you get a fj too?
ps: am i mario now? holy side scroll batman
