k so i have a ca18det on my 1989 nissan silvia, ive replaced the turbo on this thing like 6 times already using a t25 off an sr20the problem is the turbo keeps leaking at oil. ive checked every single turbo ive gotten and they were fine. dry as a bone. then after installing it it would run fine..then it came to a point when i reved it a little and oil came out of my downpipe. causing smoke. do i need an oil restrictor on my oil feed line to my turbo? maybe its getting to much oil in the turbo that its blowing out my seals? also where can i get a an oil restrictor? pls help sad.gif thanks

Turbo(s) Keep Spittin Oil In My Ca18det! Ca Gurus Help! :( *upgraded To Sr T25
The T25 off the sr20's have built-in oil restrictors I believe. Are you sure its from the turbo and not blow-by internally?
the ca oil restrictor is in the little elbow coming out of the block that supplies oil.
wish i had a pic.
anyway, if you are using the stock lines you have your restrictor.
is your return clogged up?
I had the same problem with mine, ended up being the PCV system wasnt ran right. When the engine revved, oil just spewed out the tail pipe. after I found a diagram of the PCV system, reran it, now runs like a champ. I guess when the engine revved, the crankcase would pressurize and push the oil out the point of least resistance.
P.S. this should be in CA18DET tech

I might be wrong, but could it be you're valve steam seals on the cylinder head valves?
I mean six turbo's? is oil pressure really that important for a turbo?
What was the last thing you did to the car before this started happening?
six turbos and NOW your thinking about a restrictor!? wow.
yes you need a restrictor.

well the thing is i did nothing really my original stock t25 off my ca18 just finally went and started smoking so i upgraded to a t25 off an sr20 thats about it. but then i searched that if i use my stock oil lines i dont need a restrictor but seems like i do :s..like i have nooo clue why its doing this

I think he means: rings, valve seals, etc. Are these components in good shape?
thats kinda leading into my post.

Thanks blue_streak. That's exactly what I meant.

You sure the drain is as close to straight up and down as possible?

OK so are you on your 7th turbo????
Do you have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge???
Your saying that oil is leaking into your downpipe right. From my experience that only happens if you have too much oil pressure or are pushing the turbo too hard...
How much PSI are you running that sr t25?
If it was a blow by issue you would be running into oil in your intake tube if you routed the pcv to the intake like stock. Also from experience if you run your exhaust side hose straight to the intake and like to rev the CA you will run into blow by even on a good compression motor. As for an aftermarket oil restrictor you can check out FRSPORT.com but I think it's flanged for braided turbo lines.
