Brewster, what about the differences between the early S12 CA18DET and the S13 version? Isn't the S13 version the one with the 8 port and buterflies?

as far as i know s12 is 8 port also, it just wasnt intercooled, had a crossover pipe just like 18et's.

Yeah I've seen that, but I had thought the S12 version also lacked the dual runner intake manifold.

I have just recently finished rebuilding an original S12 factory fitted CA18 DET
and the differences between the S12 & S13 engines are;

From what I have seen there are three different heads S13 4 butterflies S12 8 butterfiles
(as per the pics provided).UK & Europe have heads that have no butterflise(some). The throttle body is smaller, looks to be very similar size to that used on Z32 TT.

The S12 does not come fitted with a main bearng beam and has a different oil pickup and
sump, other than that all the bottom end is the same.

The S12 uses Nissan induction control Sys (NICS), waste spark coil sys (timing is 10 deg as apposed to s13's 15 deg) and no intercoling.

I think they ae the main points.

I'll try and find the pics Stapes posted up on Aus12.org, and post them up here, too.
