ok im doing an sr swap in my mk1 s12. what modifacations do i need to do to get the motor in. somthing with the trans braket, and shorter drive shaft. anything elts besides wiring?

My guess:

1. SR20DE(T) w/ wiring harness, ECU & motor mounts
2. Transmission (just to simplify things) or modified/custom bellhousing for your existing tranny.
3. Front 1/2 of 2 piece driveshaft
4. Slot the existing trans mounts to fit the new tranny.
5. Cut your tranny tunnel to allow for the new shifter location

Dunno if I'm missing anything, but the swap should be pretty straight-forward. There's also a section of the forum dedicated to SR swaps, check it out. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

thanks. i thought you had to cut and extend the trani braket 2 inches or somthing but sloting it is so much better. i want to keep the trani thats on the sr my stock ca one is shot.

you'll also need a sr radiator, or something done to the lines on the stocker, are'nt the sr's top inlets on the drivers side?

noooooo datsmo lol... that's incomplete info Wilkie gave ya.

He should have asked "what year is your car?" Mark I and Mark II have different trans tunnels, and require different modification to make an SR trans work.

Not just that, but whether your car is AUTO or not makes a huge difference...

That's why I said I wasn't sure if I missed anything. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

the mk1 tranny crossmember has to be modified (IF its an automatic. if its manual you dont you can just stop reading this paragraph now.), but not slotted. you have to actually add on too it... check the auto-manual swap thread for pics/ how to do it.

As for the tunnel, yes it does have to be cut, about two inches to make the shifter fit.

My friend donwn the road did the swap, when he gets home from work ill ask him all the shit he had to do. I do know it was a pretty crazy build, my 18DET swap was waaaay easier than his sr IMO. but anyways..

what i do know you need:
1.modify your crossmember if auto car.
2.slott trans tunnel
3.you need either a custom driveshaft OR 1st half of a s13 driveshaft.
4.full sr20swap w/ecu,harness,trans etc
5.SR20 radiatior, the upper hose is on the drivers, and lower on passenger *I think*
EDIT: just talked to my friend with the SRs12... he just used a big ass upper hose and a stock radiator..
Pics hereSR S12

6.Some type of intercooler, and intercooler piping, gonna probably be custom made
7.I would recomend new headgasket, timing belt, and water pump while its out of the car.
8.You need new motor mounts , and i *think* new motor mount brackets.

i have a mkI with a ca20e and manual trani. i have everything now except for the custom things. so what do i need to do to make the trans in the sr which is man. to fit up to the stock crossmember.

Ok man you've asked this twice now, and obviously you aren't searching around... not trying to be a dick, but your answer is literally sticky posted in the TOP of the drivetrain section. Even the title says exactly what it is. And I'm reasonably certain that just today in another thread we linked to that same sticky thread.

Please, read around. Asking a simple question is fine, but when these guys put in lots and lots and lots more of work into their detailed how-to threads, you do them an injustice when you don't read their work before asking things like this. You have a Mark I (1984-85) car, so there IS a thread for this in the top of the drivetrain section.

Wow, as you put it... dude I just told you, there's a thread on that. It has MANY many pages, you can't have possibly read them all by now. Please, do yourself a favor and read them before asking any further questions on the transmission.
