Ebay I guess... Local import shops... Online shops. Do some searching and read up on the companies. Just because they are cheap doesnt always mean you're getting the good deal in the long run. As for giving you a list, I have a crap load of bookmarks for them. I would do a search on here... there is another thread that covers this or just google and come up with a list of places that seem good to you then if you want a second opinion, pass them buy us in this thread.

WHOA

where in IL are you? welcome

there are several swap shops and engine resources in Chi, not always the cheapest in the world, but there is stuff local.

the economy taking a hit, you'll see stuff pop up on craigs from time to time as well. probably a good idea to keep an eye out there, you might hit a real good deal!

My buddy got his CA18 from these guys, seem pretty good, and heave some of the best prices that I've seen. Not that cheapest is always better.

i paid 1350 for mine, via JHOT imports. i was very pleased with their service, and after tearing the engine down, it was in excellent condition and worth what i paid

If the engine in your friends car is the stock engine, then it wont be the ca18det unless he imported the car from japan or something...otherwise the stock engine is the ca18et. You can put the 18det in tho without having to change to many things....just keep this in mind if your friends car is indeed stock.
