Does anyone know what a/c compressor will interchange or bolt up to a CA18DET motor?
I'm wanting to run a/c, i can get custom lines made thats not a problem but if the compressor goes out in a couple of years what other compressor will bolt up and the lines bolt right into place on the CA compressor?
Ca18det A/c Compressor Question
IDK but I imagine just about any Nissan AC comp from roughly the same period will work. I have a ca18det AC comp (used of course which is no good) and it looks the same to ca20e, ka24e, etc. Never actually tried bolting up though.
OK i found out that a 89-90 A/C compessor will bolt right up to a ca18det. I don't know what other a/c comp. will work off any other Nissans but i know 89-90 will.
So long as the offset and belt are the same it sould work fine.
Then you just have to match the lines into the s12 system
I've been meaning to do a "how-2" on this......but I'll fill ya in here.
After a lot of trial and errors, I was able to use my ca18et a/c compressor mounted on the ca-det bracket...bolts right up no prob. This means you can to use your stock s12 a/c lines. The stock ca-et ac pulley is a v belt pulley so right away I new that wouldn't work with the ca-det serpentine belts. I tried a ca20 serpentine pulley but the spacing was waaay off, and the belt didn't line up at all. What I discovered next was that a z31 pulley fit the ca18et compressor perfectly...and is a serpentine style pulley, and the spacing was close enough for a belt to work on it. As for a belt, the ca-det p/s 3 rib belt is a perfect match, and allows you to tension it where it needs to be. Only other thing I had to do was put a thick washer behind the tensioner pulley to space it out some as mine was hitting the z31 a/c pulley without the washer....so you may or may not need to add a washer. Thats it, enjoy!!
Hope this helps......
