Ca18det Oil Pan Question?

Is there any other oil pan i can use on my CA18DET that is a rear sump oil pan, not a front sump like the oem oil pan that comes on a CA?

What i'm trying to do is put a CA18DET in my 1997 Nissan hardbody and the only problem i can see is the front of the oil pan is going to hit the sway bar and steering rod thats in front of the crossmemeber.

The KA thats in it now has the rear sump oil pan. If i could find a oil pan like the KA one to fit on a CA then i could drop it in.

Dont know off hand of a rear sumped CA pan. CAs of various types came in quite a few diff cars. RWD and FWD. Mayb one of them.

Other than that. Welder?

From what I've seen all of the FWD pans are the same as RWD ie - front sump. Sorry mate but you'll have to mod 1 up. The CA20E pan fits the CA18DET but has more mounting bolt holes & no turbo drain hole. That way you might be able to spin it and the pickup 180deg and get it to come close to lining up. However, the bearing seal ends will no doubt be different just to screw with you.

By Nissan Hardbody do you mean this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Hardbody

If so I'm about to buy one myself (called a Navara here) to use as a tow car for the Gazu. If you're after a bigger petrol engine why not go for the VeeGee (153 hp)? At least you know it'll fit.

I'm heading down the oil burner turbo route myself with a TD27T from a Terrano I in to an early D21 (SD25 boat anchor).

Yes thats what i'm talking about. Hardbody is a pick-up truck over here in the States same as the Navara just about every where else. LOL

But just to let everyone know i dropped in the CA motor last night and it bolts right up. It also cleared the sway bar and steering rod by about a 1/2 inch to an inch. So it's on now!!!! I'll post up pics when i'm done.
