from what I've gathered, no. You must swap over the bell housing( the front half of the tranny). I think also you must have a CA "c" bellhousing, the "b" tranny has a different front bearing. Do a search, there are a lot of resources here to better explain it.

yea to try and configure a Ka 5 five speed t oa ca motor is going to be alot more expensive nad alot more of a pain in the ass then just gettin the stock s12 tranny, now on a second thought if you dont own the car then what do you plan on doing with the Ca engine in the first place? just curious. now on the other hand if anyone here wants a Ka24De motor with 272 cams and an australian head let me know trying to get rid of it workign on a different car i currently have - 240sx. hm. so just a curiosity question i was looking up on a post from awhile back about someone asking about dropping a KA24Det into an s12 talking about an overhead intercooler set up so why dont you just try using a side mount on a t25 its not going to need a large intercooler i mean look at the eclipses GSX Gst etc. all side mounts on small stock turbo's so how mch of a pain in the ass would it be to swap an SR motor into an s12? i imagine its going to be a direct bolt in and some small fabrication but iv never swapped an SR motor into an s12 and frankly its the first s12 iv ownder so im curious to its capabilities...because if i decide not to throw an SR20 in it iv found a VQ35De which should be a direct bolt in and an easy 305 hp... hmm anyways id appreciate some feedback
thanks.

Looks like you're in Atlanta. Check with www.jarcoinc.com over there and see if they have a ca18det tranny. Thats who I got my front clip from....if they don't have one, they may be able to get one for you.

was it first a KA tranny, then you used a "b" tranny bellhousing swap. If so, please detail how.

I miss interpreted what you said...i thought you meant for some reason that a b bellhousing wouldnt bolt up to a 18det...you meant a b bellhousing wouldnt bolt up to a ka transmission....lolz. My bad.

A KA trans is the same as an S13 trans, isn't it?

yeah? but we were talking bellhousings. See, in a previous life, I didnt know there was a difference in the S12&s13 trannies. So I purchased two S12 trannies(1B & 1C)but when I got home, I found out quickly. So now I have two extra trannies at the house. the C tranny is going to donor the bellhousing for my KA tranny. When I get finished, Ill have a KA S12 tranny for sale or Ill just put the bellhousing off the JDM back on that tranny and toss the JDM & KA bellhousing. Maybe that clears up everything.

hahah no it doesn't clear it up, because you call it a "ka-S12" trans, but which half is which? Which is the bellhousing, and which is the trans? KA bellhousing on an S12 C trans? is that what you mean?

Yes, I have a KA tranny. Im going to swap over the bellhousings. So now I will have a CA S13 & KA S12 tranny. This means Ill have a long CA tranny & a short KA tranny.
