ok so after the swap into the coupe is completed and all the little things are finished... i was thinking power adder.
rather than potentially destroying a new turbo, along with other items, as i have no clue to the actual milage on the engine, i was considering nitrous, then just upping the jets until i get scared or i blow it up
any ideas as to what kit would work best with this engine?
Nitrous?
you'll blow the motor way faster with nos then a turbo, nos is extremely harsh on motors especially tired ones... if your worried about the reliability of the motor do a comp test and a leak down test those 2 numbers will tell you a very good indication of the life left in your engine..
nitrous is only harsh on engines when not used properly.
would you run 20lbs of boost on a stocke engine with stock injectors? no?
then why would you run nitrous without doing the proper preperations?
anyhow, i dont like it all that much myself, id rather have power there all the time, but it is fun on the highway against unsuspecting cars.
there are a lot of good kits on the market, what is your budget?
its easy power, but its also consumable power. if you have to juice your VG, get a Venom kit, as theyre computer controlled and very safe
I agree with brewester.
nitrous is a power adder just like a turbo but in chemical form.
in proper increments its can be used successfully.
wet or dry; single stage or multi staged.
I second the system Julie is suggesting. I have seen that setup first hand and it is amazing. Normal bolt ons and that Nos kit on an Infinity M45 with 4 passengers kick the crap out of a gold S13 with a RB26 with only one person in there 3 times in a row and every time since then.
i meant harsh as once you hit the button its almost instant whereas turbo takes a bit of time to build up the power. now if you got a progressive setup then it wouldnt be so bad but for the $$$ you'd spend ud be better of getting a turbo
button? alot of systems these days only have a arming switch, then everything else is controlled by the onboard computer wired into the nitrous system. wide open throttle trigger type systems are by far the best you can go. its expensive, but not as expensive as a turbo system. theres less fabrication to deal with as well as handling like a normal engine till u power that thing up, so you still get decent gas mileage till its activated.
if u really wanna go cheap, get a nitrous bottle mounted between the front seats with a manual control and a straight tube feeding a fuel/nitrous mix into the intake. mad max style (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) lol

jesus. no that wont work, its illegal in cali. itll have to go in the trunk with a bottle warmer and some type of camoflage lol
i saw a setup awhile ago that had the nitrous bottle bolted to the floor and inside a gym bag.

yeah, if they asked to search it, well, id be screwed...
i was thinking false wall in the trunk perhaps... hmm
Yeah I feel sorry for you Cali people when it comes to the authorities. I have seen videos of when cops pull people over and are measuring their ride height and pop the hood for visual inspections (thats not a CARB approved air intake! 100 dollar fine!). Kinda rediculous.

im just going to retrofit a plastic engine cover from a maxima or some other odd car, just cover it all! lol
pop a couple wingnuts, and boom, vg glory
Just an idea.. My friend hides his bottle behind the plastic lining in the trunk of his t/a.. easy to get to and you cant even tell its there unless you pull the plastic back..
If I were going to run nitrous I would go with a ZEX wet kit and I would run another fuel pump just to feed the nitrous kit. You could probably run a 150 shot reliably with a wet kit. I ran a dry kit and the stock injectors cant really make any power. It ran lean with a 60 shot but got away with it. With a wet kit it adds the extra fuel it needs so you dont have to worry about bigger injectors.
ever seen a sneaky pete bottle? maybe u can stash a few of those in the spare tire well
yeah, i was just gonna say sneaky pete, hidden in the dash.
... i heard if you remove the passenger airbay on a 99 honda civic, you can hide the bottle behind the cover, and run the lines through the firewall, paint everything black, and cover it with black electrical loom, and have all the nozels on the underside of the manifold no one will ever know..
just what i heard...
im sure something similiar could work on an s12.

that could be a bit deadly lol
dont overheat the bottle!
nonsense.
you would have to get that sucker real hot to make it blow.
it gets no hotter back there then if it was sitting in the trunk out in the sun somewhere.

with a heater though?
id rather not have shards of shitty 80s nissan dash impaling my face.
the reason i ask, is im very interested... i pulled all the hvac out, so i do have room (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
how bout the "vin diesel method" and install them in the passenger seat with the bottom cushion being able to open so u can turn them on lol
here, just go through this thread, some good ideas. honda kids to the rescue again!!!

Hey julie you laugh but I have seen the bottles in the seat I have also seen bottles in doors, bottles in speaker boxes, bottles hidden just about anyplace you can think I have also seen a guy turn his roll cage into a nitrous bottle now that was some scary shit

remember to make your purge like that. mine will be (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
wet kit ftw! im curious though... for a wet kit, how are you supposed to get fuel to the fuel solonoid? and how much fuel pressure is needed for it?
can you hook a line up from the fuel rail? or is another fuel pump a must?

You could just hook up to your fuel rail some where but if you car is running fine as it is I would leave the stock fuel system alone injectors and pump etc. just because its an already working system. I would bulk head 2 lines in the existing access plate in the tank. That would take care of fuel supply and return. Then you can run 2 lines up front to a fuel pressure regulator... then to the nitrous system. or you can put the regulator in the back of the car and just run 1 line. I would wire the external fuel pump to turn on,with a relay of course, when the system was armed. This is just my opinion but I think this way would be the most reliable way with the $ in mind.
