What would be involved in swapping the head from a b12 onto our cars, CA20E specifically but either.... Junkyards got cheap valvetrain smile.gif

B12's only came with E and GA series motors in the US, so I'd say it's pretty well impossible.

Off topic but I saw a b12 sport coupe the other day. I never saw one before. At first glance it looked like it was rwd. So I was like OMG a rwd Nissan that I've never heard of. Then I saw that it said sentra and I was like oh, but still a Nissan I had never heard of or seen before.

Damnit, Wrong country pinch2.gif I figured since the b13 had SR20DE that that its predecessor would have the CA18DE. No CA18DE's in america then?

CA16DE in the pulsar. Theres various info on different sites about building a ca20det, the head supposively bolts up for the most part but requires a longer timing belt.

Well there you go. Converting a ca20e in an s12 to ca20de would also require swapping to the dual cam engines ecu and wiring harness.

Yea its seams like a bad idea for quick horsepower, it would just be more efficient to swap. Oh well. I have been checking out all the stuff the NX guys have been doing and I think I will stick with shit power until I want to swap dry.gif

Yea, I looked into doing this for awhile. Its an '88 Pulsar SE, CA18DE, only one year. They are interchangeable, very little differences in the headgaskets. I have the entire motor out of one, but you do need the harness, computer, and some electronic accs, because it is a completely different system. And then if you want to go turbo, then its another ECU and harness anyhow lol. For an engine from '88, coil-on-plug ignition was pretty advanced for the time. As you said tho, a bunch of work for little gain, better to just swap in another engine.

its 88 and 89.

not just one year.

but good luck finding one.

also, the us internals are weaker then the jdm's. no oil squirters, weaker rods, pistons etc.

as cheap as ca18det's are, its not really worth it.
