SOOO ive searched all over the ca18det tech forum and i was wondering can you use the ca18et compressor on the ca18det...buttt to do that youd have to swap the clutch and pulleys...so can you swap the pulleys from the det compressor to the et compressor??? or is there a simpler way to do this with out converting to r134...because my ac lines on my engine were cut, so thats out...orrr could i just use the ca18det and convert my lines to r134...fuck im lost...any info or a write up would be great...cause i live in texas and summer days are usually 100+ especially in traffic it gets increasingly worse

Contact member 'Keith' he has ac on his ca18det converted s12 and was previously a ca18et.From memory he said the pulleys can't be swapped between the 2 compressors.

When I put ac on my sr20 s12, I used:

1.s12 condensor, thermistor, mostly s12 lines.

2. From s13 just used compressor and 2 flexible lines that bolt to it. The back s13 flexible line bolted straight up to s12 outlet at the firewall. Front s13 flexible line was modified - I cut the end off the equivalent s12 line and had it alloy welded on to the top of the s13 line, then it was all a bolt up.

I had the system converted to the R134 gas = new filler port fittings and new O rings where possible.

Would be the same process for ca18det ac conversion I'd say.

Just read your ca18det a/c lines were cut, I presume that's the flexible ones that bolt to the compressor, maybe ka24 s13 ones would fit, or I'm sure there are members on here who have done the ca18det conversion who didn't use their ac stuff, haev a look through the ca18det conversion threads to get user names and pm those folks.

I haven't got mine going yet......but I do have the ca18et compressor mounted up, which still is fully charged with r-134 that I switched to a few years back.
The bearing in the ca18det is a different size and won't fit on the ca18et compressor. I haven't tried swapping out the bearing with a ca18et bearing....that may allow you to use the ca18det pulley though. What I am working on currently is a vg30 pulley, which fits on the ca18et compressor....only problem is the spacing is slighty off, which doesn't allow the belt to line up right.....so I'm trying to figure out a way to take care of that issue. I've tried a ca20 pulley,it fit but the spacing was waaaay off

so did the s12's lines fit the det compressor at all or not??? but anwyays...how far off was the spacing on the vg pulley??? close enough to where the belt will stratch even just a little or what??? damn...that sucks though...ill try and see if i can get a bearing to fit the 18et compressor with the det pulley...tonight yea...but any other suggestions would be great

I never tried hooking up the s12 lines to the ca-det compressor....mainly because I didn't want to discharge my system......but from memory, how the lines hook up to the compressor is different between the 2.
The vg pulley is off maybe 1/2 inch......
The best and easiest thing to do, if it would work would be swapping out the pulley bearings. I'll have to measure again......I can't remember if the outside diameters were the same, but seems like they were not........the inside diameters are different for sure
