I know a/c is a creature comfort but Davis, CA hits 100 regularly in the summer with humidity. I'm also going to be doing pizza delivery. I'd really like to have a/c in my car and defrosters. What compresor/other components need to be installed and which are compatable witht he ca18det? As of now, I have no heat, no defrosters, and no a/c but the fan works (fucking useless)

I'm still messing with mine......but I'm hoping to retain my original ca-et compressor, and a SE serpentine pulley. Spacing is still slightly off.....but I should know shortly if it'll keep a belt on. I do have the ca-det compressor, but I'm hoping not to go that route because I would have to get new lines made up.
Let me know if you come up with something that works
I won't even have time to start for a while... no money and finals week :-). Let me know if it works out for you. Any thoughts on perhaps the 18et compressor?

i figured it out, go to napa, have them fab lines from the det compressor to fit 18et firewall and routing...it costs like 60 bucks...owneddd

$60 thats it? Hmmmm....how are your new lines routed? One of the lines goes to the dryer bottle in front of the grille, right? My 'stock '84 lines are hard pre-bent lines....not the soft flexible ones, like on the mk2's.
Also, I have the stock s12 a/c wiring hooked up to the ca-et compressor. Does the ca-det compressor hook up to the s12 wiring?

i havnt found out...shit that sucks because napa told me they could make the lines and fittings adapt to my firewall and shit...but the wiring shouldnt differ too much, when i did my sr swap in my s14 it matched perfectly...and then i decided it was a dedicated built drift car so i just took everything out...but the wiring was the same...sooo i figure it should be pretty damn close...
I think it's only 1 wire that connects to the compressor......the connector may be different, but that should be it.....just look down by the compressor, and you should see it.....I wanna say the s12 wire is brown.
On a different note..........I think I found the answer for mine....and should cost less than $10 to get it working with the s12 compressor, and pulley. I'll let you know in a few days if it works
You get it working yet? I got my belt issues figured out. Now when I flip the switch on, the clutch engages, and disengages like every 1 second....like it has some kind of short in it somewhere. I left the wiring untouched from the ca18et harness.....should it be wired into the ca18det harness somehow? Does the ecu control the a/c somehow?
It worked fine on the ca18et

well i ended up finding a parts car so i could use the compressor off of it because itll match all my ac lines together and i can use that compressor...that is if it works, if not i can use the pulley and clutch off it (ca20e) but as far as your system goes its supposed to be controlled by the ecu,one of my friends told me to check ur pressure sensor, because the ecu wont allow it to run if certain variables in this are different like it being too hot or stuff like that...but yea, thats what im ending up doing is just using a different pulley and clutch
