So yesterday I drove home and BAM, blown gasket between turbo and manifold! Second time allready. The first time I removed the engine also for other reasons and then I found that the manifold flange was wasted. But I thought it would help with just a new iron gasket. You see, it will only take one year!! Now I removed the turbo without removing the engine. It toke me 2 hours, but finally I\'d managed. Then to the workshop with the turbo and there they immediatly openend the turbo, we found out that the exhaust housing is cracked on the inside. The turbo was just revised one year ago, so I ordered a new housing. And as I work in a Nissan-garage I ordered also a new manifold. Man, it\'s not cheap. I will take pics of the old and new pieces for those who are interested ;)

I\'ve just found out that mines cracked also.   Does anyone know if they can be welded ????? I will probably get a kit from ebay and recon it myself

If it is cracked you may want to look into finding a new turbo period. I have heard horror stories of welding the exhaust housing on snails. Rebuilding it will definitely be a good idea as well and the kits are readily available.

I ordered a new housing as the turbo has been revised last year. Here you can find everything about t2/25 turbo pieces!! [URL]http://www.melett.com/newPDFs/Garrett/T2-T25.pdf[/a]

I also recently replaced blown gasket and cracked manifold. I had a spare manifold and I replaced it. I will weld the cracked one and keep it as a spare since there are very expensive to buy it from Nissan dealer.

I paid 250€ for the housing and 325 for the manifold. The protection shield on the manifold 60€!!! All togheter 700€. What a rip off.
Tomorrow I start mounting everything, and take pictures.

So the turbo is finally installed. What a change. Now I gained 0,15bar (2PSI) of boost and finally I hear the turbo whistle. Before my turbo meter showed 0.35bar (5PSI) of boost, now I have like 0.5bar (7,2PSI) of boost. I feel the difference too.
It was certainly needed to change the parts: the manifold was cracked on the inside, The flange was not flat anymore. The flange on the turbo-housing was also not flat anymore and the hole of the wastgate was totally cracked, so all of my exhaust could escape from there. Now I just have to install the heat shield and I'm done. Here some pics of the new parts.
