is there a paint i could buy from a store that would give me that powdered look? i wanna do my stock wheels in a powdered white or black, (im gonna photoshop some wheels tomorow), but i dunno that i can get paint that will do that from a store. Is there a technique? i dont want shiny, and i dont want flat, i want powdered icon_biggrin.gif (which i guess i flat but anyhow...)

Wheel Painting
When you say "powdered" I'm guessing you want a sort of matt finish. Crap Tire (Canadian Tire) have all sorts of paint specially made for wheels and I think they are made by Duplicolor (http://www.duplicolor.com/index.html) You can also get a matt finish by spraying a light coat of flat paint over gloss. You can also try spraying gloss and flat paint both at the same time.

Thanks boss icon_biggrin.gif, i like your idea with the light coat of flat over gloss. Spray from a few feet back even would work well. What do you think about white on white? im gonna try to photoshop some white stock wheels tomorow.

I don't know geoff. White on white is kind of 80ish. How about a deep gold or light bronze. Just spray black and gold (or copper) at the same time or a light dusting of gold right after the black icon_cool.gif .

i agree white on white = 80's but gold = 70's. Or people might think im copying suburu. What about a realy dark gunmetal, like borderline black. eh?

I was thinking of the Volks dark bronze but gunmetal gray would be a good choice since it will match well with brake dust.

What color is your car?
BTW Dark bronze like this?
white car. dark bronze might look weird... i'm painting the stock meshers remember. I think a really dark gunmetal will be the nicest. Then i'm gonna make a stencil to put some kind of logo i make up on the wheels in red. Makes them look so much more pro with a little red/white text on there. icon_biggrin.gif.
EDIT: Newest idea - Gunmetal or black /w white lip and the logo still. eh?

It's your car so it's your call. If it doesn't look good you can always repaint.

well i was just going to say run down to auto zone, but then i remembered that most people dont have one sitting next to their house like myself. so anyway run down to yore local parts store that has dupli color, and in the high temp colars their is a gunmetal thats pretty sweet, i have painted a couple of things with it (my cannondale, a grill, the wiper arms on my s12) i like the color cause it is dark but not black which is always over used
