Does anybody know if the r200 lsd internal assembly will fit inside a r180 housing.?

filkNov 4, 2003, 8:35 am · #2

Most likely not, but to another R200 housing yes. And if you have an S12 with CA18ET, you will already the R200 diff, althougn an open one. R180's were only in some early CA20E's.

Bart I guess you understood me wrong..I edited my reply to be more clear. Of course the FJ's had the R200, that's the point of the whole topic...whether or not the FJ's R200 LSD internals can be stuffed into another housing. D1s12 asked if it can be done with the R180 but the topic mentioned the CA18ET so I'm suggesting he's got one and that naturally has the R200, not R180.

sorry about the mix up.. form what i know you can get the r200 to fit but you need the pumpkin and the ring and pionon gears as well and the halfshafts are i tad smaller on the r180 i believe

i was wanting to know if the internals from my r200 lsd from my rsx fj20et parts car will fit into my once ca18et powered now fj20et jdm hatch, which i belived to orginally have a open wheel r180. if the internals would fit i would save a lot of work.any info much appriecated

VEGIENov 6, 2003, 2:51 am · #7

DID I HEAR YOU SAY PARTS CAR icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

oh goodie.....

sorry dude, the r200 guts wont fit. you need to change the whole housing,
rear mount and axles, and possibly the drive flanges on the rear arms if they are different to your axles.

the r200 crown wheel is probably bigger than the entire height of the r180 housing, and the r200 is definately wider.

r180's are a pain in the ass to get axles for, thats why i sold my old one.

also my ca18et notch has a r180 open wheeler in it!? maybe some of them had r200's but i think not all. icon_confused.gif

oh yeah, if your using the r200 lsd, you might want to get it shimmed up.

i think standard they are supposed to have around 50 pounds of preload which makes them more of a "limited grip diff"

im looking at beefing my one up at present.

yes thats right parts car, minus engine and box.so i need to change the rear assembly .not to worry.other than brakes and diff what are the main differences between the ca18et and fj20et powered cars ?

VEGIENov 10, 2003, 10:05 pm · #10

i think suspension is heavier too, although mine had cut spring when i bought it so i cant be sure. mostly i think the difference is in the wiring.
heaps of extra crap and strange little "black boxes" everywhere that do all sorts of wierd stuff like variable voltage fuel pumps, and windscreen squirters that only go when the wiper arm is out of the way, headlight wipers etc.

i recommend you change the whole rear subframe over, beam, arms, the lot.

if theres any info you need on wiring or stuff, let me know, as i'd be happy to help out with any info you might need.

anything to get another fj on the road! icon_biggrin.gif

VEGIENov 11, 2003, 11:26 pm · #12

i`m i canterbury. aren`t the 13b turbo injectors nippon denso type which will fit on the bottom end but will require a new fuel rail on the top?

VEGIENov 13, 2003, 3:26 am · #15

dont know for sure.... i just heard that they have been used before.

stock ones are i around 275 cc and 13B are 440 cc.

dont quote me on that as im likely to be proven wrong. icon_biggrin.gif

13 B injectors are 550 cc/min, but you have to take off the O-ring and squeeze a piece of 5/16 EFI hose over the back of them and lock it down with some hose clamps to adapt them to the hosetail type fuel rails run on the FJ20/Z18 other early nissan EFI motors. If you have a lathe some minor turning of the o-ring groove makes fitting the hose easier..

ya or just get a new rail that uses the o-ring style injectors.. you can get custom universal pfuel rails for this exact reason.. makes it very easy to use whatever injectors and fpr
