Power Locks :(

I have gay manual locks, and you have to hold up the handle to close the door if your locking it. makes me mad sometimes, just wondering, since i saw one with power locks in a lot, if i could jack the door pannels off it, and fuck around with some wiring, get power locks working within a reasonable amount of time ? how much wiring goes into this?? i already have power windows, so i'd jack from a car with power locks/windows.

BTW - by jack i mean lawfully buy from the lot owner.

me SE has power windows, power locks, power mirrors,.. the only "power" thing that i cant think of that it doesnt have is power seats,.. and even though i like the power locks, something is messed up with mine, b/c the passenger side doesn't always want to lock.. but to get to my point,.. it was def. an available option, atleast on the SE models

ok good too know, so anyone know if converting would be very hard? i know theres a way to make my analog locks power but its a lot of work and cutting and modifying. i like stock stuff for the most part.

pwr locks on the se's are entertaining icon_confused.gif It has something to do with "dumbass don't lock the keys in the car" After almost a year I am use to it.

well my 86 came with all power options, including buttons to push to get in the car, and the alarm, no power seats though.

my locks dont work very well...the alarm doesnt work, and neither does the buttons icon_mad.gif

Yeah my 88 SE has power windows and mirrors but no power locks. It never really bothered me, they seem unnecessary on a 2-door car. As for holding the handle up, I love that feature, mostly out of a sense of nostalgia. You had to hold up the handle when closing the door on my '82 200SX, and also on the '78 Corolla that my father drove for most of my childhood. It just screams, "Classic Jap Car". I think it's great.

Christopher, now I remember you didn't have cruise either...
I guess these were all options on the SE? But I thought SE meant power everything.

Make S12 fast and hot. Use to fry rice. Repeat.

After working in a stereo shop for soooooo loooong, I can tell you the way to get power locks on your S-12. The passenger door lock is already powered, so what you must do is go to your nearest sound shop that installs power door locks and purchase 1 door lock motor.(should cost you about $7.00) Install on the drivers door and now you have power door locks. Take it a step further by adding a keyless entry module that should cost no more than about $40.00 and you are JAMMIN!!!!!!!

fitted power locks to all 3 of mine and made them work with the alarm. Can lock the car from both sides with the key too. 5 wires from door to door, live and ground in car and unit in car using 4 wires. Got air mats in the seats too, and heating elements! icon_biggrin.gif

It took a year of having the S12 for my wife to do it consistently. She wasn't around when I had my old 82 200SX.

yeah, my dad bought this car the year before i was born, so i was raised on the thing. however, since the s12 has relitively heavy doors, i'm used to pushing them quite hard. People with newer cars get pissed at me for slamming their doors icon_biggrin.gif. what can you do.
