Hey guys, thanks for all the nice welcomes. Immediatly I plan on changing the springs and struts. My friend that sold me the car said he had a set of preformance struts that he never installed which he'll give to me next week, but I have no idea what kind the are. As for the springs, I have absoutly no idea which ones to get...I'm thinking 1.5" to 2" max drop.

The track I plan on running the most on is Streets of Willow, in California. Track Map (http://www.willowspringsraceway.com/trackinformation/StreetLg.htm)

I've driven there once before in my 97' Toyota Celica. But I'm really gonna be excited to take a RWD car there with a bigger engine.

It actually does seem that there are a lot of V6 SE's on the board...thats kinda surpising since I thought they were limited. But good to see all of yah. And ARRO, where in S. California do you live? It'd be great to know someone locally that's into S12's.

The theory that has been put forward before is that a higher percentage of V6's have survived to 2004 in good working order, because they were more likely to be bought by enthusiasts and less likely to become "beaters"

I'd say that another theory is that since the motor is N/A it'll probely last longer than turbo charge engines...especially with mods.

ehhh.. the VG30 is a work horse and a half. But i think the reason is that isn't very many turbos around AT ALL. There's like two in NJ and I have one of them.

I agree. There is not a lot of them around. I've seen alot of s12 around where I live, all of them except one had the CA20E.

YankeeDrifterdate not saved · #17

I've only ever seen two in person, and I own one of them! Not surprising considering everything rusts in VT.

Alex Frostdate not saved · #18

Three turbo's, and four CA20's that I know of up here, plud Euroboy's DET...and I think it was a turbo to start too...so maybe four and four...

Arrodate not saved · #19

hahah here I am hording two myself, and I think if I was to pursue a swap, I'd prolly pick up a CA20E notch for it ;) Why waste an OEM tubo S12?

Its nice to hear "Proud new owner of an S12", welcome to the club!

As it goes for rare... I have yet to see a SE V6. I have seen lots of CA20's rusting away while still being driven, and even more turbo cars... mostly at the wreckers. And I think I have figured out a way to stick a turbo on the V6 200's without messing with anything but the hood, but its only a thought.

really, that could be interesting...

I think that's because they weren't sold in the Canada. I see them here in the US probably more than the turbo cars.

I myself have owned 6 S12's to date (1 turbo, 5 CA20's), and currently have two. Unfortunately I have sent 3 of them to the junkyard...

Johnnydate not saved · #23

Junk Yard?

You could have just Frankenstiened them all together...to create a super S12!

Joel07date not saved · #24

Well two of the ones I sent to the junkyard were parts cars for my race car, and I got every piece of suspension and body off of it before it went. Stupid me though, I junked a turbo car because I figured "what in the world could I used a turbo motor for? I can't race it... "

:guns:

Oh well. The third one I junked WAS the original race car, after getting creamed by three cars on the first lap, there wasn't much left of it...

We cut the roof off of it, and swapped the motor and front suspension into one of our parts cars, then I took the parts car to the track and ran the fastest freakin lap all year.

Ah, the memories...
