My car is currently @ Newcastle Chiptorque getting some dyno runs done to check the new ecu chips i got made by a guy named Peter Liebig. He usually does SR remaps but he did a special one for me.

Currently with my mods I am restricted by my injectors above 12psi.

With 15psi (& 440cc injectors) i am hopping for around 220rwhp (160rwkw).

The tune is very conservative to keep the engine alive for longer, with a more aggressive tune i could pull another 20rwhp (15rwkw) easily.

Boost comes on lower and smoother than the stock t25.

I'll get the dyno sheets scanned and uploaded next week sometime when i see how much i can get with safely with the stock injectors.

Mmmm all this in my lightweight s12 :burnout: :burnout:

nice... how close are you to getting your baby registered and on the road?? should sweet to finally get behind the wheel and cruise about abit. whats the main use for this car anyways drag/drift/daily driver??

Hey is this the maps made by PL's partner in crime for his CA 180sx? I was chatting to PL the other day about remaps for my CA18 bluey and he said his mate had some killer maps but that they were a use at your own risk type as well cos they aren't as well developed as his SR maps. Said they pulled some good power tho. I'm getting a PL remap on my SR soon just to get my low to midrange decent, power won't increase much past 160rwkw with stock turbo etc but thats fine with me. Later on it'll only cost a little more ($1400 or so) to get it up around 200rwkw if i get keen.

salps12date not saved · #4

nah the maps were made by PL himself. He said the same thing, use at your own risk. But hey im pulling nice power plus its very conservative which helps 8-)

With the weight of the car and the CA being internally weak 160rwkw is all i will need. If i feel the need for more ill just upgrade the internals for 180-200rwkw and strip the interior from the front seats back.

Unfortuantly my car is currently a track car until January - feb. I got my a motorised bike to get me round atm so i dont care about transport and also we just got ourselves a new VX commy so im happy keeping the s12 off the road.

Cool, if you need something a bit meaner his mate has some other maps of his own that are supposed to be pretty mean. The other bloke is the MS in PLMS developments.

salps12date not saved · #6

Hey neb, you should goto the silviansw dyno day or nite really! I would luv to know how much power your putting out.

How much power your reckon your putting out atw atm?

130-140 rwkw?

Ill just stick with PLs maps as I want to keep it sorta factory rich if you get me. And if I do intend to go further with the maps ill just get chiptorque or unigroup to tweak them for my car.

God im so keen to get my car back and drift with ya neb and also flypsi!!!!!

Dude, your car rocks, and you get to enter what I would loosely call the "S12 Power Club", which is, for the time being, anyone over 220 to the wheels (newbies note OEM hp ratings are to the crank).

Salps12 what u mean the CA being internally weak??

The TD05 kit on my car, made 214.3rwhp with stock injectors, truck intercooler, POD filter and a full exhaust on a previous car, with only a mild MINES tune in the computer. I think that was on about 14psi.

What turbo are you running? and how mild is the tune?
THe MINES tune is like a standard map with adjusted timing, and fuel ratio's, with all cuts removed. Nothing tuned specifically for the car.

Hope u get over 250rwhp with those bigger injectors then, catcha

salps12date not saved · #9

Well i suppose weak was the wrong word. But you have to remember that most CA18DETs are about to blow up or are on the way too. This is mostly due to being thrashed, poor maintenance and/or age.
There is a CA18DET here pulling 220rwkw (295rwhp) on standard internals so i should know better :)

My CA has had a hard life and is on its way out so im going to slow this down and keep the engine going for as long as possible. How do i know? Well the current power figure is a tad low for the mods and also the leak down test was also a bit low.

When i say mild tune, i mean the guy who tuned my car was tuning my ecu at HIS home and doing only guesswork to make the maps work, sorta like your mines ecu. They both keep the maps sorta rich to keep it safe.
He is good tho and the power i got is nothing to laugh at considering i was on par with modded SRs with my stock CA (90rwkw? or 120hp?).

Also s12psi the reason i need injectors is due to me having an RB20AFM & T28. If i kept the stock AFM with the t28 then i would be fine up to your power rating (160rwkw). You were running your stock afm werent you?! With an RB20afm the engine has access to alot more air and therefore the engine must also add more fuel. So right now anything above 11-13psi will make me lean out in the top end. Not good. Very basic explanation but you get the point. If you want to argue this then talk to peter liebig at PL MS developments (http://www.plmsdevelopments.com/)

Im currently running a S15 T28BB, very very similar to the 320HP GT25.

Well i hope that made sens cause im still drunk from last nite :bomb:

Alex Frostdate not saved · #10

Made sense to me, are you going to rebuild the CA, or swap in something different when it finally lets go??

Nebuchernezzerdate not saved · #11

Just jamming another motor in is probably the cheapest way out, rebuilds are to expensive, when my SR lets go it'll just get replaced as a unit :)

I think i'm making around 150rwkw or a little more but who knows, i made 208rwhp (which is 152rwkw) on a gtech when my car was running much worse than it is now (when i ran the 14.2@104mph quarter) but havn't gone out for another run on gtech since then.
FLY PSI's car runs similar power to mine to.

I'll probably get a PL remap (mostly good for low down power on stock turbo etc, will give me very little peak hp gains but meh i want power everywhere) and get the mixtures checked on a dyno. Might come to a Silvia NSW dyno night if i get time. I drive to sydney every second weekend as it is hehe.

salps12date not saved · #12

Damn neb thats nice power! Got to luv SRs and the amount of power the can make with some well done mods. Heh and ppl say the CA is a better engine

Yeh, Ill either throw in another CA or I will just get it rebuilt to standard specs using standard components. Ill instantly get more power and response thats for sure and Ill know the history.

Will be good to see when we race neb, the difference in torque, weight and power!! Especially with two diffrently modded SRs.

Chiptorque have been stuffing me round due to them getting all their cars ready for the Summer Nats so Ive been put on delay. I am definatly getting my car back this weekend tho so Im itching to just put on some plates and then drive round (unregistered but hey, ill just drive in the morning :D ) Also itching to see how much power can be extracted!!

(Big Kev voice) IM EXCITED!

Nebuchernezzerdate not saved · #13

I remember reading articles about early S13 Ks making around 130rwkw with front mount, 3" turbo back, pod, boost and remap. HPI reckon their car with the same mods plus a T25G made 150rwkw so you should be able to make more. The HPI car was pushing around 200rwkw after they changed to a TD05 of some kind i think but the engine did get cooked, then replaced then blown, then blown again so i guess it's a little lacking in the support systems somehow. I've seen it blow up twice at Oran Park (once in practice and once at drift nats) and looked at it in person and it would seem it's support systems are all good (big oil cooler, aftermarket rad, ARC intercooler) so maybe it was just the fact it was being flogged mercilessly by alot of different people and held on the limiter alot and stuff.
You should be able to extract more power from the CA you have than i can from my SR as it sits, my torque might still be better over a wider range tho.

UPDATE!

On the stock boost cut I made 180rwhp on 10psi. Thats a nice 135rwkw.

I kept the stock boost cut to stop leaning out in the top end!! Or Peter Liebig did really.

2psi and a jump of 20hp.... heh oh yeah 160rwkw here i come! Perfect drift power with the s12 imo.

(Big Kev) IM EXCITED!! :banger: :werd:

Swoit, when you see my drift vid you will see that a S12 can make some decent smoke with 160rwkw :)
You'll love it to bits, it's lighter than mine to :)

What boost you running to get your power?

Also Im getting the dyno sheet sent to me today so Ill post it ASAP!

Nebuchernezzerdate not saved · #17

Between 11-15psi depending on how high it feels like going hehe. Spikes don't worry me, changes how far it spikes with different throttle applications.

salps12date not saved · #18

Dodgy but ill have a proper one next week when i pick up the car!!

Im proud! Very nice power for 10psi

Spooleddate not saved · #19

Good numbers. You have a right to be very pleased. I'm sure you've said it before, but is your CA18DET from an S13, or the earlier S12?

Nebuchernezzerdate not saved · #20

185hp = 137kw
He is using an S13 motor, an S12 motor isn't worth touching really. I've only ever seen one conversion with it and it was in a N13 pulsar.

Nebuchernezzerdate not saved · #21

Oh yeah and it's good power for the boost, very nice. Understressed is good for dori dori ;)

SHEPPO3930date not saved · #22

man, thats good sh1t!

i hope to get 150rwkw with my ca18det.

Salps, you'll be drifting easy as man with that power. Better to make it more reliable and a sensible state of tune than a highly strung engine that could grenade at any moment. Especially drifting where the car gets a good floggin! Reliability is a key concern for a street/drift car.

Good work man.

salps12date not saved · #23

Thanks guys! I am very happy :D

As you can see with the curve tho its in need of a bit more fine tunning to get a nice smooth power and torque curve which will help with drifting.
Then with my new injectors i can up the boost to 12psi and still be pretty rich.

I reckon my goal of 160rwkw or 220rwhp (@ 15psi) is will be easy to achieve and will make for some excellent 3rd gear slides, on cold days :lick:

Just like to also say THANKS TO PETER LIEBIG FOR DOING AN EXCELLENT JOB ON GUESSING THE MAPS!! FOR DOING ALL THE MATHS IN HIS HEAD WITH NO DYNO IS VERY IMMPRESSIVE!!

Shep: Your car will make more power than mine. Your compression is awesome and it will show when you get a nice turbs.

Also when i said my car made 120rwkw b4, the boost was only regulated by the wastegate spring. 2psi plus a decent electronic boost controller = easy 25hp.

Yeah even with only 140hp like my VG the tires just ignite shitsloads of smoke

Scooterdate not saved · #25

my goal is 200rwkw from my CA i think with 3" turbo back and new fuel pump i should have it... dunno maybe will be able to get more than that but i will be happy hitting the 200 mark..

I say dont get a new CA do the rebuild for sure... it cost me like 3g to rebuild with my specs and then you know what u got and can thrash with out having to worry about a thing..

SHEPPO3930date not saved · #26

hows that lil ARC cooler going salps?? u should hook up a water spray for the dyno run, see how it helps with heatsoak of the core.

i rekon u should boost it to 12psi and hold on for a fun ride! dont be soft!! :)
