IMO, TRASH. Chris Bangle hasn't been able to put out ANYTHING bmw-esque since he became head designer. This is WAY too agressive for a BMW. although the headlights are sexy, that's where it ends. BMWs are luxury sports cars and are supposed to look the part.
BMW really needs to fire this dumbass.

I somewhat disagree. I'm not really fond of the new BMW styling, especially the new 5 series and the Z4, but honestly, that pic you have isn't that much different than the current M3. The M series of cars have always been the motorsport derivitive of the luxury cars they're based on, and personally, I like seeing a little more of an aggressive look on that series. I love the flared wheel arches that give it that muscular stance. The car certainly has the power to back it up!
i also prefer the styling present in the e46, e39, and e38 bimmers, but this new direction is disgusting. someone hook bangle up with his old crack supplier; this new one is supplying some funny stuff :spy:
i like it ya bmw luxury but its luxury with a twist.. handling and power.. look at the new m3 that things turns on a dime and has hords of power... if this was a mercedes then ya it would be way to aggressive
I agree with indecisive, BMW has always been refined and yet modest in design cues, while laden with luxury trimming. This in contrast to Mercedes' sport-luxo image which they have always maintained. Now, BMW is trying to be a Mercedes, and in doing so has lost its refinement... trading it for excting edginess.
Even Audi has proven that a luxo-sport coupe is best refined and with modest styling cues, leaving the luxo trimming to do the talking. Luxury consumers don't want to be flashy in shape, they want options, options, optionsm and all the best materials.... leather, chrome, woodgrain, power everything, etc etc, not modern art designs. Refinement. The new BMWs are anything but.
I like how the front is aggressive, but I don't like how the car gradually gets bigger towards the back, and it looks like it would have a HUGE blind spot at the back. But for me to make a more accurate assumption, I need to see it from the side, and the rear...
dont' get me wrong..this design is insane...as a former ricer I love it...but therein lies the problem. since when was bmw's design made for the common ricer?
This isn't the style of a BMW...Bangle's work is suited better to a company like SCION which is geared toward ricers.

 I agree wholeheartedly on that one. I've been kinda back and forth on the Bangle stuff, I actually kinda like the Z4, but absolutely HATE the 5 and 7 series. Especially the trunk of the 7 series, looks like someone forgot to put the trunk on and added it at the last minute.
I personally think that the current (pre-Bangle) model of the 3 series and M3 (forgive me since I don't know all the Bimmer chassis codes) is one of the sexiest cars on the road. Every time I see an M3 on the road, I have to stop and stare.
Now it'll be the same effect, except I'll probably be staring, pointing, and laughing. (or maybe crying... )
So, just because a company is understated and luxury oriented means they can't break out once in awhile. Do you guys not remember these cars?

And what about the original E30 M3? You mean to tell me that those boxed fender flares and wing aren't aggressive? And talk about a trunk lid that looks like something thrown on last minute!

And last but not least, how can we forget the BMW Isetta? Luxury oriented? I think not.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like a lot of Bangle's stuff either, but saying that BMW has to stay stuffy looking and completely luxury oriented is just rediculous. I do agree that BMW has a distinctive look, and that Bangle is really pushing the wrong direction, but that new M3 looks sharp, except for those hideous headlights.
BMW's and Audi's tend to blend in too much. If you don't want to be noticed, that's what you buy. Even the Europeans feel that way. People with money want to be noticed, and the new M3, with it's muscular stance, should help it in it's segment of the market.
Well, I can say that after looking at it for a while, I do like the M3 better than the 5 or 7 series, maybe I'm just getting used to that look. I just think the 7 series has been seriously beaten with the ugly stick! I don't know who would pay $75k for something that looks like that...
