NEW, not just NEW to me, but less than 50 miles NEW...Anyhow, im REALLY looking into the Chevy Cobal LS. Because of where i work, i get a GM supplier Discount. the good part is that the discount is huge! i got QUOTED 13,500 for an LS w/ALL options...Base is 13,900 for the BASE model, not the LS (14,500)...pretty kick ass deal. oh, and i work at Sam's Club (the discount applies to ANYONE who works for walmart, inc. Any opinions?

wasn't there an SS one too. I don't know i wouldn't touch an american car with a ten foot pole especially a new one. But that's just me

don't get a first year model, especially anything out of gm; they seem to let the first model year customers find all the faults and then fix 'em later.

Yea there will be an SS model. It will be supercharger, have colerr alloy wheels and a bunch of optional tuner parts... I think.

That new ecotec motor is a pretty nasty beast. But I agree, I'd wait a year or so, first year models usually have problems. But, I think it's off of the same platform as the Saturn Ion, so they might already have the problems worked out. I like the looks of the Cobalt, here's the SS version:

You would think that Gm could get some original ideas...Personally I think the Cobalt looks just as bad as the previous years Cavalier...and the new Cobalt will most likely be just as unreliable...

If you are looking for a cheap, and reliable commuter car go with someting like a Corolla, or Sentra...

I too have been pricing around for a new car! Actually looking for a truck..Frontier that is. Hoping to go with a 4x4 Frontier King Cab, If I get the extra cash, I wanna go supercharged...

the Cobalt looks pretty much like a cavalier, and hell I'd wait for that supercharged edition to come out if u gonna buy something. Plus u are an enthusiast, u get the car at a HELL of a discount, pay as well hehe..

I like it. To me, it looks like what the Cavalier should have looked like. Like a mini-GTO. And yeah I'd wait for the supercharged one.

But I never liked the Cavalier's looks. I like this :D

the supercharged one is available main-stream early next year...but thats extra money, not a good economical choice...Heres my position..i NEED a car that can get me to and from work, school, wherever and when ever. the s12 is GREAT, dont get me wrong, but i wanna have something im not afraid to drive in the snow/salt. also...if i do agree with the waiting out the first year car...but its hard to wait another year with two cars that have over 200,000 miles! the lumina is just WAITING to fall apart...the nissan will prob run 4ever x2, but i wanna rebuild it!

As far as the cavalier comparison..STOP! the only thing thats the same is the motor...also its the replacement for the cavi...the cobalt is way bigger inside and out...i dont mean to lecture..its just nothing else fits for me. thanks for the opinions tho..appreciated!

Is there a commercial for that car with a corvette, if this is the car i saw today it KINDA looks like a skyline from the back. Gay american car makers cant make their own designs !!!Or make good cars..

Jsvob03date not saved · #11

you got it! tat commercial exists. oh, if i were to buy a corvette from the dealer..its 39,900..down from 52,000!

If you need a car NOW, then get the Cobalt now. I like the way it looks, but if you can too wait, then wait for the SS. One advantage of buying a new car is that you can throw it on a dyno, and get like 50-a few thousand back for the false hp rating ;) :lick: !
