SWEET! I always wondered what mine would look like flat black. I'd really like to get my hands on some of that radar absorbing flat black paint used on the B2 stealth bomber though.

Kinda dark.... From what I can see it's nice though.

I think the best part (aside from the paint) is the way that you blended the hood scoop into the whole hood, it looks great!

geoffdonkdate not saved · #8

is that flat, or semi gloss? looks sex.

Yeah it is kinda dark. I'll take some pics in good light tomm.

I used regular Rustoleum Painters touch flat black from homedepot or sears. 6 and a half cans. Total Cost of paint job = $26 including masking tape and a sanding pad. I used 220 grit sandpaper on an orbital sander.

I sanded off the clearcoat and then wiped it down with paint thinner to get off the dust. It took me about 4 days working 8 hours on the first day and then 3 hours on the last 3 days. If it wasnt for work I could have finish in 2. Theres only 2 coats on there. But all in all I'm happy with the results.

As for the hood scoop I did that about 4 months ago and that took quite a while but its startng to crack at the front of the scoop. I'm actually going to have to break it off in a few weeks to turn the scoop around and make a vent for my V-mount setup once the new engine is in.

geoffdonkdate not saved · #13

MrNisViadate not saved · #14

yeah that looks frickin great!!

i'd like to do mine in a Satin/Flat blue color like that car that they did on Overhaulin.

you think you can put up some more pictures of it durring the day so i can see how it turned out because i sprayed my hood and yeah.... it didnt turn out too good, but it works. its a lil blotchy

iliRandyilidate not saved · #16

All you have to do is wet sand it to get rid of the blotchiness. 2000 grit

JasterM5date not saved · #17

i didnt do any wet sanding, I'll post pics tomm. sorry i havent been chekin the forums lately cuz I bent my powersteering rack 2 days ago. (long story) :(

Heres the car in daylight. It got really dirty recently so u can see alot of dirt and there are oil stains on my driverside fender from power steering fluid.
