Okay, enough people have inquired about where and how much I got my Suspension Techniques adjustable rear swaybar. So, I called my helpful Nissan dealership this morning and got some info. I can get this swaybar, which comes with all mounting hardware, including urethane bushings, for around $160 U.S.. The bars are 25.4mm or 1" thick and have a range of three adjustment options. I currently have this on my car, and the adjustments really do make a difference. How many people would be interested in this? I would be willing to set this whole thing up and be the distributing point for the product. The price listed above does not include shipping, of course. So, that would need to be worked out on an individual basis. Please let me know if you're interested so that I can start getting a count. I will contact those interested once things are finalized.
Edit: Okay, so apparently Suspension Techniques doesn't even make these bars anymore. They are no longer listed on ST's website. However, Nissan does still have 6 currently in stock. Let me know if you're interested in grabbing one of these!

I'm interested in it.
Depends the Shipping to here in Adelaide....but I might be interested but got so much to buy still.....including Dan's MKII lights :S
so 3 way adjustable? 25mm 26mm 27mm or ?
As long as shipping aint too far above $80-100AUD then Im in for sure!!!
Id actually rather these than the custom items by whiteline.
If you can get me an approx price on shipping to Sydney Australia and if it aint too much then Im definetly in for sure!!!!
thanks mate!
hmm in a few weeks i should have some extra $$ laying around so i might be interested as well
Okay, I did some checking online to try and figure out shipping to Sydney. Things were not looking good, however, it depends on how long you're willing to wait. The estimate I'm getting for shipping via US Postal Service is around $50 USD. However, shipping time is 4-6 weeks. I can get it there in 4-10 days for $110 USD. Remember that these are only estimates, however. I measured my bar as best I could to get an idea of the package size. Adelaide is about the same price as well. It's up to you guys. I'm just putting the option out there. Let me know what works for you.
For the more "local" folks, like Bart and ahoffman, I can probably get that ordered whenever you're ready. Like I said though, my parts guy could only find 6 in the system.
Youthanasia - the bar is 25.4mm. The adjustment is made by shortening the arm length, which makes it easier or harder to apply torsion to the bar. The shorter the arm length, the stiffer the bar feels.
If the shipping aint too far off $110USD then ill take one
Ill PM you soon :-)
i hate to bug u about this but is there a way you can get us a pic of the sway bar on your car... i'd like to see how the adjustment works
Well, I don't have a picture, and to save myself the trouble, I found a pic already on the internet of an adjustable bar. This is what the ends of mine look like: http://www.pdm-racing.com/products/imag/toyota/pdmlinks3.jpgSo basically, to adjust it, you move the endlinks to whichever of the three mounting points suits your driving style. The further forward you mount them, the shorter the arm length, so it takes more leverage to twist the bar. I have mine set at the middle position, as the hardest setting made the car a little too tail happy for hillclimbing.
Count me in spooled. The only problem I see is that I'm going for vacation for the whole month in november (I'm going to Asia). So nobody would be there to pick up the package after you shipped it :( And customs canada is on strike! :(
Man, it's like the entire government is on strike...lol. I work for Corrections so I know about it. Thankfully, I'm a student so no strike for me.
Count me in on this too. I would love to pic one of these up.
you can send youthanasia's bar to my house ;)..hehehe
but yea..if you need to I can hold it for ya until you get back
(it'd better all be paid for tho lol)
Thanks but no thanks Indy :p I talked to spooled already, and we're arranging something.
Unless Travis, how are you gonna pick yours up? Are you getting it shipped?
Yah, I'm still waiting for my frickin' springs from Nismoparts.com that I ordered like 3 weeks ago!!!!! Shiz, I hope it arrives before I leave :(

DAMNIT!!!!!!!! WHAT I COULD DO WITH ONE OF THEM! *kicks random things* I got no money WHAT-SO-EVER so i'm extremely p-i-s-s-e-d...
This still going? How much shipped in the US? I'm in VA, 23454. Is there a front bar available too? =)
Spooled I Need Your Address asap
YOU HAVE A PM! PLEASE REPLY QUICKLY SO I CAN GET PAYMENT OFF QUICKLY TO YOU!
Replied! ;)
By the way people, I can still get these bars if you're interested. I'm not sure how many are left now, however. Just let me know if you're interested, and I'll find out if anymore are available. Price is still $160 plus shipping.
If your getting them through Nissan.....how about just giving us the part number?
LOL I've done that in previous threads. I happen to get a fairly good discount through my local Nissan dealer, as he sponsors my Z club. I was offering my discounted price on these bars. For people in the U.S., it definitely might be a few dollars cheaper to get them through your local Nissan dealer, since then you wouldn't have to pay any shipping charges. I've been getting them for people outside of the U.S. that don't have access. Anyway, the part number again is 99996-R4352. Check your local Nissan dealer and see if the price you get would be better than me getting one and shipping it to you.
This is a U.S. Nissan part number? It came up as a "bad part number" through my Nissan sources :dontknow:
Yes, it's a U.S. Nissan part number. It has been discontinued, however, my Nissan parts guy can get them. Don't know why yours can't. The ones I've gotten, including the one I'm shipping out today, have Nissan tags on the box with that exact part number.
If you want to check it out on Nismoparts.com you have to use and M- before the part number like this M-99996-R4352 This is because it's a motorsports catalog part number. Nismoparts/Nissanparts.cc however wants 177.80 for the bar.
Ahhh....thanks Alan, that worked. I haven't checked locally.....just Nismo parts, and a few other online Nissan parts places.
Plus, they still charge shipping. If you can get it through your local Nissan dealer, it would be best as they don't charge shipping.
Yeah.....that's what I was thinking. I'll give them a call, and see what they can get it for.....if at all
$180 here at the local dealer.
So, shipping to you would be about $15. I could beat your local dealer's price with shipping by $5. Not sure that's worth it for you, though, as you'd have to wait a bit longer than if you just ordered it through them.
Does your $160 include tax? Because mine doesn't....I'm pretty sure, so that would be another $20.....so probably around $200 or so here locally by the time it's all done with.
LOL I live in Oregon. We don't have a sales tax.
Ohh yeah....I forgot. duh...I lived in Bend for a while. I should of remembered that! Also the stupid rule about not being able to pump your own gas......that use to drive me nuts!
Yup, drives me nuts about every 3 days, when I go to get fuel. Anyway, just let me know if you'd like me to order you a swaybar. Looks like I can get it to you for around $175 shipped.
how about solids? could this work for me?
I don't know what the mounts look like on the solid axle, but an educated guess would be no, it wouldn't work.
Spooled is right. The connects on the ends are complete different and the size is probly different too.
Well i tested this item out last weekend, very very good buy and worth the money!!! Mmmmm pretty red bushes all round now!
My mid corner understeer problem has now been fixed to neutral entry, mid corner and oversteer exit. This is on the middle setting on the sway bar too!!
Touge and drift will be SWEET now that i can adjust the way the car handles! Middle setting touge, Hard setting DRIFT, soft setting street!
Thanks SPOOLED YOU ROCK! :mike:
If you can get one DO IT.. Do IT!
Suspension Techniques stopped making S12/Z31 sway bars years ago. If you're lucky you may find one laying around in some store. But not to worry, Addco makes the same 1" rear swaybar and a 1" front one www.addco.net
Waiting for mine!!! I got my rear spring, yeah, just one!! Stupid me ordered just one rear stock spring (I thought it was a set), so I ordered another one. So hopefully, I'll install the rear springs at the same time as the sway bar.
It was sunny today so I decided to install my RSB.
Holy crap, at the middle setting, I can easily spin my inside tire when turning hard. Man, I really need an LSD. Haven't driven it much yet, but it definitely got rid of the understeer. With my tired springs and crappy Michelin all-seasons, I think it's got a tendency to oversteer on exit now if I'm not watching it. I'll play with the settings more when I get my springs installed.
Now, if only my friend would lend me his dad's spring compressors, I can install my rear springs...
I have one piece left from the RSB kit though. I don't know where the silver cylindrical piece goes?? I can't figure it out. But everything is on except for that, and it seems like I don't need it. Can anybody confirm? There's two cylindrical pieces, the silver one, and the brass/goldy colured one. I used the brass/gold coloured one but not the silver one.. Also, are there any torque specs that I should be aware of?
i think.... THINK its used to space the control arm bushes and the sway bar bushes..
Ill hav a look 2nite for ya if no1 replys!
Well, there's little short silver ones, which I think is what you're talking about, but then there's a long cylindrical one, almost as long as the brass one. But It really don't fit anywhere it seems.
Bah, I should've taken a picture, but my hands were too dirty. And when I got them cleaned, I drove off the ramps and did some laps around the cul-de-sac :p
Just wondering if u guys think there is a diffrence betwen the ST rear adjustable sway bar vs the addco rear sway bar?
You mean besides being adjustable? I think that's the big factor here.
I wanted the adjustability of the rear sway bar. Quite frankly, I never have driven the S12 with an Addco so I can't really comment about that.
i havent put my rear Addco bar in yet, but its definnitely bigger than the size of the stock unit. This itself will help indeffinitely. I also have the Addco 1 1/8" front bar. thats roughly 30-32mm.....somewhere around there. so it (if memory serves correctly) will be around 8 mm larger in diameter than stock.
the idea behind an adjustable is you can set it to your desire. its also easy to change your settings, in a matter of minutes you should be able to go from street or soft, to hard and track settings. i know I should not compare saturns to nissans, but, with a 19mm 4 way adjustable bar it made a gigantic difference in how it handled. it was only a 2mm difference in size, but it made up the size in different settings.
What is the size of the ST rear sway bar?? just to compare.........
you know what we don't have them we can make them.
Guys lately appart from the parts selling buisness i have been selling Oxygen, argon, acetylen N2O etc to ppl around and many machine shops as well as local welders.
Now i will go ahead and give them some free juice if they can make us some sway bars. I am talking in the range of 100-150 usd each. I want something radical in thickness something along the lines of 1.5 back and close to 2 front.
Can someone take a pic of these adjustables sway bars. Let me do some talking around and maybe we can get some 3 or 4 ways adjustables.
And if anyone has any detailed info on how these pieces are made please let me know. I know how they work not how they are made, so the more i know the more i can pursway them into my thing here. This way i am not talking out of my ass and he doesn't make it sound like it's the hardest thing alive
thanks guys!
Bess
im not to sure about how they are made, but my guess is they take a solid tube of steel in a certain diameter, bend it to the correct shape, cut it to correct length, and drill holes for mounts in the correct spots. doesnt sound to complicated, but again, i do not know how or what they use to heat the steel up to bend it.
