AUS S12 cruise info/ideas

Howdy aussie S12 drivers,

(no offence international members, but i doubt any of you's will be interested in swimming your S12 down under for this cruise, hahahaha)

I have decided that enuff is enuff and we need to have a nice cruise here in AUS. Now i am in Victoria, and there's alot of South Aussie S12's out there, so here's my thinkin....

We meet up somewhere along the Great Ocean Rd. Say Warrnarnbool. Have a day or two there, then piss of. Seeing as its a long way for everyone, i rekon a overnight camp might be an idea, similar to the US guys meet up at that Tail of the Dragon place.

Other places are like, Portland, Port Fairy, 12 Apostles, etc etc. I am a water boy, so i like places near water as i go nuts without it.......weird huh!

I am thinkin early January, therefor everyone has time to organise.

If we can get 10 cars together, it'll be somthing special, and a great chance to meet other S12 drivers.

Post here for destination preferance and what week in January will suit you best. I really want this to happen!

If the NSW and QLD ppl are interested, the destination can be changed to upper Vic, as its about central for everyone, but getting all of the Aussie S12 ppl together might be a big ask. Maybe 2 cruises, a northern and southern.

Get the thoughts posted, and we'll organise.

well lets get some numbers, and book a camp site or somthin? Murry river sounds good, but in summer, might be busy. If we make it upper vic, or slightely west, the SA ppl can come too! I rekon a day drive up, stay the night, have a day there (late commers havea chance) then spend another night then leave early the next morning for home.

but i need to see who's interested and where is a good idea to meet up.

ECHUCA is where it will happen, its on the Murry River, HUGE town, plenty of good places to eat, see, sink piss, etc etc.

I will email caravan parks tomorrow and get prices. We will be staying 2 nights, and they'll be in the 2nd or 3rd week of January.

6 cars keen now, common, we want minimum 10!

i'd buy a gaz for a daily driver (this time a manual), but i have to get a car to tow my current s12 to the track, not to mention a car trailer to put it on.

We'll see though, I could bring my coupe down but she's bashed up and I should be working to put money into my project. Decisions decisions, maybe if I can drag one of my mates along. Dammit I want an S12 hatch ...does nobody in Australia have one for sale? There's no way I could have it finished by then though, maybe next time we could have one that comes a little further north? Finishing in Sydney perhaps via Canberra?
Okay maybe I'm pushing my luck trying to get you lot to come to Canberra but I would really like to make the East Coast S12 cruise something reasonably regular and if some of you mexicans could manage to make the trek all the way to Sydney some time that would be awesome.

i was going to pull it apart aswell, but it is in too gooda condition so i will keep it whole and do some mods to it 8-)

it will be the 2nd week of january, i am bookin next week, so perferences to how you would like to be accomodated? Cabins, Motels, Camping, etc ???

I am thinkin a caravan park with camping sites, might do the trick.

dates for the 2nd week is Monday the 10th --> Friday 14th, but we will only be going for 2 night, so what ever the caravan park has to offer will dictate the days during that week.

so ask for that week off work, then it dont matter what nights we stay.

well here's the deal, i cant book a place untill i got a rough idea on numbers, so that said, who is coming and who is a maybe? it will be in january, 2nd week, during the week (not weekend), 2 nights.

You can come for one night if you want to, or stay in other accomodation if it suits you, the main idea is to get a group of S12 (i want 10-12 cars) together, have a good time, and get to put faces to names and look at all those CA20E's, CA18DET's, SR20DET's and whadeva other mods have been done.....oh and stock cars are still welcome and should come, as this would be a perfect opertunaty for you to see what engines you can swap, or suspension to fit, etc etc.

So who's in?? I need your name, contact phone number and number of ppl coming with you (try to limit it to yourself, and maybe the missus).

If you are keen to come but wanna stay somewhere else, please give me your contact details so i can plan a meet up place and stuff. PM the details to me, or email them.

This week is the deadline, after that i am booking a place for a certain number of spots (tents and cars). So if you are a maybe, please let me know.

YES ...Summernats great idea, that's only about 20 minutes away. Lots of great roads here, heaps of huge areas for barbecues etc. Consider this a second to Scooter's motion.

Ive got to work in the 2nd week so im out! and i also have 2 drift meets this month (one the 15th and the other the 22nd) so im preparing my car for them.
