i know they are out there but i cant find any fj pics other then just the outside of the motor.. i wanna see the internals the head the valves...etc.. if anyone has them please post them up.. i know i and others here would love to sit hear and stare at the holy of all things the fj
Yeah, I'd really love to see what makes them tick... Especially the combustion chamber, valves, and the cams and valvetrain. Are the FJ's a bucket type setup like the CA18DE's (or KA24DE) or rocker arms like the SR's?
I have a bare head as a conversation item in the lounge......... It was cracked through an oil gallery.
I'll try to borrow a digital camera and take some pictures.
The FJ has buckets.
Cheers
Jon
I have a FJ in bit's in the shed (had to rebuild mine last year and found a broken tooth on one of the time gears,
I have some pictureas of the FJ head after i cleaned it up and there are some pictures on my site [url]www.datsuns.co.uk under our cars 1979 Datsun 180B 9red one)
So are they hydraulic or solid buckets? Man, I gotta get me one of these motors...
There were some FJ internal pics on the old Club-s12 forum.
They are solid buckets - remember this is a engine designed in the late 70's/very early 80's. Old technology done well!!

hmm does that look like a engine that was maybe copied off this one...hmmm maybe a 4g
Nah, 4G's have got rocker arms and hydraulic lash adjusters, and from the looks of it, a taller block and longer rods... The head is close to the same size with the way the cams are stuck way out to the sides (same as the 4G), but the solid buckets (IMHO) are about the most efficient way to do an OHC motor...
well, these aren't the greatest ... I did a dumb thing when sizing them
if they're any use, let me know and I can redo them bigger

Nice... I like that... I just wanted to get an idea of how the intake/exhaust tracts are laid out, and what the block/crank/rods looked like as far as beefiness goes. Seems like this motor is kind of like Bigfoot here in the states, lots of people know its a real awesome motor, but very few have seen it...
