Ok, I was browsing FP (forced performance)

http://www.forcedperformance.net/

and this is what I found

FP-Big28 wraps cutting edge Garrett Ballistic Concepts internals in the unassuming shell of a stock 2nd gen turbo. This turbo walks softly, but it carries a big stick. A Wolf in Sheep's Turbine Housings

The FP-Big28 uses modified T25 compressor and turbine housings, which means this turbo could trick its mamma into thinking it was a T25. Don't let that cute little shell fool you, however, because on the inside it's 100% pure evil. We carefully selected a compressor and turbine combination that provide massive flow capabilities and very little back pressure. Doesn't sound like a big deal? Did we mention it makes full boost in just a hair over 3000rpm, and holds solid all the way to redline? Now we're cooking with gas.

Thank you, drive through.

Our goal with the FP-Big28 was similar to its FP-T28/28 predecessor… to create a fast spooling, bolt on turbo that got up and went. We wanted to give the FP-Big28 a little more "umph" than the T-28, but when we strapped one on a 2G AWD and took it to the track, the results knocked us on our ass. At 21psi, the FP-Big28 pulled our full weight 99 GSX to an [email removed].

One Size Fits All

This turbo has enormous potential, and in almost any DSM application… from street, to autocross, to drag racing… we recommend the turbine housing porting. The FP-Big28 has got you covered like a jimmy hat.

This Remanufactured turbocharger features a 100% BRAND NEW CHRA which includes our Severe Duty Thrust Bearing system. These units are done only on an exchange basis. We do not have core turbos on hand to sell these outright, you will get your turbo back with your reclaimed compressor and turbine housings on it. You will need to send your old turbo in with a note explaining that you want the FPBig28 mods performed. Turnaround is 2-3 days in most cases, sometimes faster. Dont worry if your old turbo is really messed up, all that gets reused are the compressor and turbine housings and wastegate actuator. The entire center section is replaced with new parts, including our severe duty thrust bearing system.

SPECIAL SALE!!!

This reman version of our famous FPBig28 is now reduced to $599, regular $750. That's some serious savings!

Now, this is not a garett flanged T25 ... it's flanged for DSMs.

They sell the same turbo setup for Nissan flanges for $799

But, why couldn't you just buy the FPBig28 for $599, and just swap the exhaust housing to use a Nissan friendly Garett flange?

For $600 this turbo would be hard to beat

Wow, that sounds like a pretty awesome deal. And if you don't have a T25 to exchange, they're pretty easy to get off of 2G DSMers who already upgraded...

Lost me there, so they sell the FPBig28 for the Nissan for $799? Only thing about swapping the exhaust housing, is you'd have to get one of their modified ones to make it work, and then you're back up to the $799. Even for $799, that's not a bad deal... Turbonetic's sells their T3's and T3/T4's for around $850...

what about the gt28rs "disco potatoe" thing spool like made and is good for 350whp abd runs about the 80 or so mark as well

or even a GT28r which is a little cheaper than a GT28RS is. I've been wanting to get a GT series turbo for the engine i'm rebuilding/beefing up. I'm kinda torn between the GT25R (not to be confused with the GT25/40R which is much bigger) and the GT28R. Here is a link http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=tp&Category_Code=GRT I want a really responsive turbo and my power goal isn't really that high i'd like maybe 200 horsepower at the wheels or so maybe 250 tops. I just want a decently quick streetable car. Thinking the GT25 would be plenty but the GT28r is the same price so not sure yet.

Finally made a good deal for a brand new Garrett Turbo!
Anybody knows exactly a non-modified standard Garrett T3/T4 Turbo flow capacity? Intake is A.R.60 exhaust ?

Next step is to build a full custom made 304 S/S exhaust manifold and modified this turbo further on, to make her come around 2000 rpm to make this dady happy.

Thanks for any info,

Alp

A T25G would give you that no probs it's well within it's range. My SR with it's standard T25G makes around 208hp a the wheels (well it did i suspect it makes a tad more now) and FLY PSI's car does very similar.
Just an idea.

Thanks for the tip. The GT25R the standard model not the 25/40R is about the same specs a/r wise as the 25G is but pretty sure the GT turbos use newer technology with the compressor wheels and dual ball bearings. Sure it will cost some more but i'm wanting a new turbo anyways rather than a used one.

Nebuchernezzerdate not saved · #9

Yeah the GT is a better newer shineyer turbo for sure, just pointing out that the T25G can be had for not much cash, i'd prefer a GT to but i'm to stingy hehe.

Just get youself a T28 from a S15 in Japan.

$1k second hand with VERY low kms and no shaft play. Has the same response as a t25g or VERY close and has a decent top end.
On an SR20DET these turbos have seen 200rwkw with minimal mods.

Just an idea

Indeedy they are the budget turbo of choice amongst ppl down here, great in practically every way :) Very similar to the GT2510 apparently. Good for around 220kw@rw, alot of people even just in the local area are making between 190-220rwkw with that turbo on the SR20DET.

Matt, ol' buddy, I was posting about the Big-T28/28 from FP what, two years ago on here? Bart remembers because it's come up on the phone a few times. Direct bolt-on all-you-will-ever-need-for-CA18ET.

And yes, it's the best upgrade for a CA18ET car, hands down. Better have the fuel to support it ;)

wow, I've been offering you guys' t28 hybrids for $600 for a while. Brand new. I can spec them or you can. And instead of an S15 turbo, you can buy a GT25R BRAND NEW in the garrett box for 1189 from me.

I think you and I are going to have to get together one of these evenings so I can see what you have to offer us. I'm only about an hour or so away during off-peak traffic hours.
