it was me and a dodge hemi truck at a light...(on my way 2 skoo)...the teacher drove the hemi of course...well anyway the light turned green and i floored it, and so did he...his tires were screechin...well anyway he was in the left lane and i was in the right lane...and in order to get 2 skoo u must be in the right lane...so apparently he thought that he was goin 2 go fast enough in his hemi to overtake me...awww...must of not known about that z power...heh...well anyway it was neck and neck...he had 2 slow down in order to get in the same lane as i...so he ended up being being behind me and we both had to turn right 2 get 2 skoo...it was a short race...but it proved that the z engine ran strong...

hemi vs. s12-student vs.teacher

geez... I only have one teacher that I can imagine going over the speed limit.
Quite impressive, keeping up with a 345 hp truck. Have you done any mods to your S12?
I can only immagine that it may have had more to do with his wheel spin than your car...lol
I can only immagine that it may have had more to do with his wheel spin than your car...lollol... i was thinkin da same thing...however, i think if we jus had another chance 2 drag...i still might have a chance the car gets like 0-60 in like 6.5 seconds...but more than likely the hemi might out-do me...well whoever asked wat mods i have done...the only thing really was i got it tuned...but i'm gettin me a high performance muffler installed this friday...when i get that check...;D...oh yea this wednesday i should be getting my parts from nissan, i ordered a rear view mirror and front & rear brake pads...
No offence to you or the S12, but the Hemi should win if it gets traction. The VG adds a lot of weight to the S12, and not tons more power...the problem with the truck is the fact that the back will just spin. Congratulations on the win none the less 8)
It won't spin excessively if the driver knows how to control the throttle at the start ;)
or if it bursts into flames. they had a new hemi at one of the dealers down here that was sitting out front and looked like the engine had caught on fire. wonder if it was somehow recall related
The VG adds less than 100 pounds to the S12 compared to it's 4 cylinder brothers, and adds quite a bit of torque. I believe that a well running VG 5 speed S12 could keep up with a new Hemi powered Dodge truck. Look at the power to weight ratio's, not to mention the crappy gearing the truck probably has. As the speeds rise, the coefficient of drag goes to the S12 as well. I believe it's entirely possible.

the hemi should destroy you if driven correctly. vg's really aren't fast cars. none of the stock s12's are (det's merely being 'quick').
obviously the teacher wasn't a racer...there's a difference between being a racer and a driver...i am a racer...i could have easily been beat if he knew how to use all that power to his advantage...

The Hemi Dodge truck does 0-60 in 8.1 seconds and 1/4 mile in 16.2. I don't see how that would "destroy" a VG powered S12. Here's MotorTrend's stats to back me up. http://motortrend.com/oftheyear/truck/112_0302_toy_win/index4.html
So 0-60 in 8.1 for the Hemi vs. 8.6 for a stock 1987 V6 S12 according to Car and Driver's issue of March 1987. And the 88 SE adds 5 more horsepower stock over the 87, factor in driver skill and mods and you've got a pretty close race.
Agreed. I'm not sure what he's smoking to make him think his S12 does 0-60 in 6.5 seconds, but I'll have some of that! LOL

huh? that's it? i stand corrected. the s12 AND the hemi are both slow.

LOL lol...i aint smokin shyt...but ur '87!!!!!!!...lol...oooooooooo...its in the 6.5-7 range...st least the last time i started from a stand still merging on i-95, my pops tweaked the engine to its max...so its not enitrely stock...i'll give a more accurate account when i get it dyno-tested...i smoked a second generation supra on my way 2 work 2day

Tweaked your engine to it's max??? You are obviously diluted. What did your dad do? Bumped up timing, added an intake and a catback exhaust? That may put you in the high 7's, low 8's to 60mph. Maybe if you stripped out all your interior, you could possible make a low 7 to 60mph. My 87 has ported heads, valve work, upgraded cams, headers, complete exhaust, complete intake, KA24 Throttle body, limited slip differential, and a lot of stuff removed, and I "might" be near a 6.5 second 0-60. 2nd gen Supras are NOT fast. They are much heavier than the S12. So please, pass what you're smoking, because unless it's nitrous, you are not that fast. Go to the drap strip so that you can prove it to yourself.

This dude's is smok'in so great stuff...........I had a run-in with him on the old classic 200sx board a few months back.....and he did nothing but talk smack.....like "having the only vg S12 in Florida", maybe it was north Florida, but by any means...:bs: com'on now!!
And "getting a bunch of mods done from the Nissan dealer to make 180-190hp"...but not having a clue what mods were done when I asked.
Looks like he finally found his way here to make up some more shizit.
Welcome

for the record, Paul and I are representin' So Fla....anyhow, just to add my bit of "who-gives-a-shit" information....there's always going to be someone faster. Down here in Weston, give it up...Ferrari's, built-ass Audis, oh my God crazy fast Bimmers like mad...for the people that are in it to build cars to be tha fastest; hang it up, tha pockets aren't deep enough to run with these boys. Damn, i hate driving to work and seeing the vipers, and the occasional lambo or lotus.
wassup guys im just trying to introduce myself. I'm a new member of the s12 club and im 16. I have a '84 notchback with a ca20e engine. I would like to add a cold air intake and some high performance headers, but as you all know with an s12 there aren't many manufactures, so i guess i got to go custom, but hit me back.
cherryman
yeah my friend drove his dads hemi truck and i raced him in my 96 V6 maxima and he uhhh.... kinda roasted me. It was a short race but yeah he killed me off the line and he pulled away. I spin a bit off the line thou
Any mods done to that truck? Because I have a '95 Maxima with little mods and I smoked a full size Hemi truck pretty good.
Bottom line is a win is a win. I think it's great that you not only beat the truck, but that it was a teacher, too. We all know that if we were still in high school we'd love to tell that story. I think Hemi's are too heavily marketed as an insinuated "performance" truck, when really the only "fast" production dodge truck is the 500hp viper-powered truck. Good job!!!
By the way, say no to drugs.
The dodge may have twice the power, but it is also twice as heavy. The lightest would proabably be the regular cab short bed 2 wheel drive truck. And I havn't seen to many of those with the hemi around here. There all extended or crew cab 4x4's around here that I have seen.
Yeah........most of the ones I've seen have been 4x4's....Which I think are also geared pretty low for towing purposes. I have seen a couple of the " Super Bee's".....Regular cab, short bed and are yellow with a black stripe and hood scoop. These might perform.......somewhat.
I'm not a very big fan of Chrystler vechicles, but have you seen the new Dodge Magnum with the Hemi? They look pretty cool. I wonder how they perform? I think they have like 345 hp.
yeah... I like the magnum

yeah... I like the magnum
Yah and the new 300C is nice too, but I wish they actually badged it the 300N like it should have been badged...8)
i have light mods done to my 88 se..kept with a 01-02 tahoe...
