hey guys, need a favor. Does anyone have the stocker fan shroud lying around? I'm guessing CA20E and CA18ET use the same shroud. The electric fans will be coming out here in a month or two so look for them in the for sale section. There is no real rush on the shroud, I will be doing the swap back at school so I have about a month before I need it. Thanks.
just curious.. why are you ditching the electric fans?
I have them currently on a SPST toggle just in my center console and I am just tired of always staring at the temp gauge hoping it doesn't sky rocket. Now granted the electric fans work fine, but I felt no increase in power with the fans and for peace of mind's sake I'm going back to the clutch fan.
(fans out of a stanza BTW)

Is it the dual fan setup? Does your car have A/C? Why don't you just get a thermostatic switch for it?
Or a dual-control setup like I've got, I have both a dash switch and a thermo switch.
There are a few reasons that I want to go back to a manual fan. One being I don't like the added load to my alternator. I know the alt is already on its way out, and with a $400 car behind it, a $100 alt looks pretty pricey. The thermo switch was what I orginally was going to do, but I just did not have time for it. It would have to be a dual setup like chris was talking about because I have seen one too many cars (mostly at the track) drain their batteries from the fans continuing to run after the car has shut off. Anyway, one way or another I'd like the clutch fan back on there, but the efficency is pretty horrid without the shroud, and mine was cut (stupid) when I put the electric fans in. So now I'm going to have to pay the price, although if it comes down to it I bet the local pick n pull will only charge me a few bucks for one.
hey Doc I have my old shroud and it's great shape. Do you want me to hold on to it for you or are you just going to get a shroud from a junk yard. Doesn't matter to me
