Well, it's actually closer to 95% done now, but I figured I'd repost it here anyway.

Well, in case you didn't know, I've been hard(ly) at work converting my car from pop ups to fixed headlights. I finally got off my buttinsky and put a little effort into it.

So here's what we all started with, with the exception that my grille is already out in this pic

First things first, I had to gut the original pods, including motors, easily 100 lbs worth of weight savings, plus a lot of extra room for other goodies.

The wiring was easy, just had to find the low beam signal, the high beam signal and ground out of the 3 wires going into the factory unit. I just spliced the wire so ground goes to both grounds from the new lights, high to high, low to low. Unfortunately, I'm experiencing some switch issues, so it took me until late last night to realize I have a small problem. It seems the S12 units take 1 signal for low beams, and BOTH signals for high (or mine's just messed up) On the rare occasion I could force the high beams to come on, it lit up both beams. Bright yes, legal no. So I'm a bit stumped right now.

Then it was actually as simple as eyeballing the new units, 2 spot welds, and they're in. I had to unbolt the thin metal support above the bumper to get the lights to line up properly with the markers. Ignore the tube of silicone, that was there to help me align them.

I know they look a bit crooked in this pic, but it's an illusion. The hood, fender and bumper on the driver's side are bashed out of alignment right now. It will be straight once I pull them out.

The pods I used were out of an early 90s Sunbird, just swapped around and flipped to look less Sunbird-ish. The big bonus is the bulb style lights. Even with factory style bulbs and dirty kind of cloudy lenses, they still look 100 times brighter than the pop ups that were on it.

All that's left now is to weld/putty the tops of the pods back on to the hood and a custom grille (someone stole the factory one I was going to cut up and put back) I'm going to make out of that egg crate mesh painted black.

Which I have done

Welded in the old eyebrows, now with a lil air scoop started.

Finished hood

I made a grille out of the ricerific APC grate stuff, and I hated it. So now I'm making a plastic one that will look a lot more factory.

All that's left is putty work, and building the scoop up around the cutout.

*lol*

For the love of all things ... don't customize your S12 ... it's a pain in the ass!!

this is what I'm trying to win ... then I think I'm going to snap up a Silvia S to replace the Pulsar P

I see...thats why you were asking about the S13 badge...8) If that grill will fit, then I think it should look quite good. 8)
