Hey, looks like I get the first post-meet post! I hope everybody made it home okay (oh, I just looked at the clock and johnnyfive is probably still on the road.)
Anyways, even with just five guys in attendance, bringing 3 S12's and a Contour SVT, I have to say I had an absolute blast hanging with you guys and tearing up the Dragon. I've got a bunch of pics and the videos uploaded to my webspace and ready to post, I'm gonna create a new thread for them since I know a lot of people might gloss over this one if they weren't involved.
Again, safe travels to everyone, and we've gotta do that again sometime!
P.S. Death to the Lumina!

Ok, I'll be the dumb fish and bite, what is up with the Lumina, and other than the obvious reasons, why must it die???
The Lumina in question was a red early-'90s (first generation) four-door, with a yellow ribbon sticker on the trunk lid, which made it easily identifiable. The putz was obviously not on the Dragon to have any fun, because he or she refused to exceed 30 mph. We were stuck behind the Lumina for awhile until they finally pulled over and let us pass, shooting us dirty looks as we roared by. A few minutes later, one_equals_two and johnnyfive's intercooler pipes happened to come loose at the exact same time, so we were pulled over on the side of the road while they fixed them and here comes the Lumina tooling by, the driver no doubt lauging their A$$ off after we blew by them only to have them catch up while we are on the side of the road with the hoods up on both turbo cars.
So of course we got the turbos going in a minute or two and took off again, so it didn't take long to end up riding the a$$ of that same Lumina. Again we "convinced" the driver to get the hell out of the way and we were able to have some fun the rest of the way to the southern end of the Dragon, where we pulled off at a small hotel and gas station that was crammed with bikers (That's where the "Dragon Unleaded" pic was taken.) This place was right at the intersection of US 129 and NC 28, we looked at the map and decided that it would be quicker to get back to the campground if we took NC 28 to the Smoky Mountain Expressway. So we left 129 and headed down 28, which had some potential for curving fun of it's own, though nothing close to the Dragon. It wasn't more than a couple miles before we came up behind a pickup truck with a bike in the back who was crawling along at least 5 mph below the speed limit. The next curve revealed the reason. Right in front of the truck was that same %$#&*( red Lumina, yellow ribbon and all. The curving road left little opportunity for passing, so we had to follow the Lumina of Doom all the way to the junction with the expressway, at which point we all put it down and 3 S12's and one Contour SVT blew by that SOB. I didn't get a good look at the driver, one of the other guys might have.
yea it was a middle aged black guy. he looked at me with some kind of confused look as I went by him. Prick
man now that really sucks....
..hey, you guys are gonna jinx me..i need my lumina to make it through this winter at least..
Don't sweat it man, we're only wishing horrible misfortune upon that one particular red Lumina with NC plates and the yellow ribbon on the trunk. We promise not to put any hexes on yours.
i just tried to start it after putting the intake mani back on...it starts..but its REAL bad...i got like half a bottle of wd40 in the lower mani, (it spilled..crap). and now the entire exhaust smokes cause its TRYING to burn it off...other than that, and the half inch diameter piece of plastic STUCK in one of the heads..im ok!
Can anyone estimate how many hours of driving it will be from Miami Florida to the camp site?
Im undergoing a hurricane right now but, i would love to attend next time. touge/hanling on that beast looks like alot of fun. :)
The next meeting will probably be at a different location. The first one was at South of the Border. The one last week was #2. Maybe we can meet in Va Beach next time or somewhere in the DC/Baltimore area.

we have some nice roads here in md, although few people know about them. for those of you who haven't visited d.c., we could have a cruise through the city and see the various sights in town on the weekend, when there isn't as much traffic and the cops aren't as anal. we have campgrounds around, too, i'd just have to hunt for some close to the mountains or close to d.c.
