Tonight my friend and I finshed up molding up the first 1/2 of the "skyline" front end for the 200 project and decided that since it felt nice and cool outside, we would go for a little road trip to put some miles on the car to help break it in. We hit up one of my favorite roads in Augusta known as Washington Road. The longest road in Augusta (I think) and the #1 road for streetlight races. We rode it back and forth until we decided to go on a back road and tack on some faster miles. While cruising through downtown, we came across racer #1. A v8 camaro with no mods really. 25mph road with no one around, we raced and I won after only 3 gears, then he slowed and turned away.

We got back onto washington and found ricer #2, a VW Jetta or Golf or something new. 3ppl in that car and 2 in mine, we took off and after another 3 gears, he was in my review mirror. Short Trip, but a good race.

Now mind you im trying not to go over 4K right now on the engine break in (but sometimes that boost just pulls you over that too fast). We headed back onto that back road and came across a LONG streach of road with nothing on it, noone near, and just smooth asfault. A honda civic with a body kit and a shot of all ricers favorite.....NAWWWSSSSSS. Or NOS for all you normal peeps. 55mph, he wants to go. SO, without dropping out of 5th gear, I just floor it, listen to his revs skyrocket cause he dropped a gear or 2 and i just toast him. Well like everyone who hates to be beaten, he wants to try again later on down this dark road. And I come up behind him in the opp. lane and let him have a 1 car length start. He drops the gear again and the rice pipe starts squeeling. I just drop the 5th gear gas pedal and once again, 5psi kicks in and I am just GONE...... Needless to say, with him by himself in his civic with his nos and me and a friend in my turbo 200, We come out victorious again.

I tried not to go over 4K in all the races, but the last race with the ricer I just had to smoke his ass and teach him to respect the real power - BOOST!

Nissan 200SX CA20ET - 3
Other cars & ricers - 0

An eventful night and a great meter for when I hit more into the 1K milage on the car and start to boost higher. Should be great and I know I cant wait.

how much power are you putting down to the ground?

YellowPreludeRdate not saved · #3

How would I know? I just put this thing on the road yesterday! I put 300 miles on it in 2 days! :lick:

man, you need to get it dynoed. WE all want to know what your putting down.

my thoughts exactly!!

How did you know the Civic had Nitrous?

YellowPreludeRdate not saved · #7

there is that certain sound that nitrous makes when
A) Priming the NOS
2) Revs hit an insaine high when riding out the gears
D) Different smell when tailing him
F) I followed and asked him while driving next to him what he had done. We were on a long as stretch of nothingness.

New race - 87' BMW 535is with a 3.5L I6 (soon to be turbo too :lick::banger::twisted::headbang: ok, enough) On washington road right after I replaced the slave clutch cylinder in a Wal-Mart parking lot in 20 min. But Without going over 3500RPM, I managed to stay with him. Good deal. Worth the turbo conversion :P.

Umm, I guess you are putting over 250 easy at the wheels and a whole ass load of torque.

YellowPreludeRdate not saved · #9

i doubt that im near the 250 marker...and if I am, YES ! But I hope to get it dyno'd fairly soon after the first 1000-1500 miles are on the car and I start to boost a little more. I will definitly get a dyno # very soon though and glue it to the hood of the car for EVERYONE to see :)

Umm, I guess you are putting over 250 easy at the wheels and a whole ass load of torque.

that seems a *tad* high. a bit more than half of that is more likely.

YellowPreludeRdate not saved · #11

a bit more than half of that is more likely. HAHA. If I was expecting around the 130+ marker, I wouldnt have ever attempted this project. I have dumped 4K into the project with custom everything. A little around the 200 range sounds just about right for what I was going for. Ill just wait and get some #'s later and we will settle this :lick: . With most of the mods I have and the dyno #'s from people with similar setups, 200+ is not unlikely when the boost is 7+psi. Remember, I have a 2.0L with a bigger turbo. and all the goodies to match.

sschungdate not saved · #12

dyno's the only way to tell for sure, but:

stock ca is about 110 hp?
add about 15 for exhaust and intake (i think that's generous)
=125hp

(did you do headwork? i can't remember)

7psi of boost @ 100% efficiency (again generous)

= 185hp
or about 150whp

i'm not trying bash you or your work (i think it's great). just trying to be realistic. it's hard making hp in old, small engines. especially our heads. they flow really poorly. crank up the boost for your 200whp!

YellowPreludeRdate not saved · #13

ill list some more mods to try to help make the rest of the HP.

2.5" Straight nocat exhaust
2" IC piping all around
Starion FMIC
T25G turbo @ ~7psi with .80a/r
Forged rods with the lower comp pistons
Upgraded bearings to help oil flow
mild ported head
mild ported exhaust
ported exhaust manifold
3" downpipe
turbo electronics
a/c removed
90% tread tires (tires DO make a huge difference)
CA20E cam

Im not saying 150 is bad, but it just seems a little low for $4K worth of mods and everything matched for components.

I went to charlotte for the weekend to see some old friends of mine :boobs: ;) :lick: :hitit: and decided to stop near the movie theatre where I used to live. Again, more ricers, but this time some old friends. Cars included were an Evo8 running 19psi stock!, my sleeper that pppl couldnt figure out what it was, but only knew it hauled ass and could rape 3/4 of the cars there, 1.8T vw, CivicSi /w nos, Integra with a 75shot but not hooked up, new celica, civic, mercedes benz, Mustang Cobra, F250 truck, and an M3.

The Evo8 ran a 13.3 with a $250 G-tech machine that was pretty cool. Didnt get to run mine which I would have loved, cause the HP reading is like off by only 2-3hp.

Comments on the car :

1) What is that thing!
2) OMG. WE GOT A SLEEPER !!!
3) Its a Nissan?
4) What is in that thing! and after I tell them. DAMN!

Very cool to pull up to cars that have 10K worth of "mods" and just smke their asses. Ended up racing the GSR Integra and beat him. Silly ricers.

Alex.. you're my hero! LOL

Sleepers Kick Ass!!!! Silly ricers and their retarded front-wheel-drive!

Johnnyfivedate not saved · #16

dude your car has to be wicked powerful. And your only boosting 7psi!!

I can only hope my car will be able to stay close enough to read your license plate....

I should be doing good too with my car but i ain't gonna brag until it's alllll together....

You used 2in. I/C piping?

YellowPreludeRdate not saved · #17

ye. I decided with the little more displacement and the decision that when the motor is broken in, im going to be boosting 1 bar+ that the 2" IC piping was something that needed to be taken care of. I modified my starion FMIC to accept 2" endtanks also so the only thing that is lacking the 2" is the turbo output on the compressor side. So far I have not seen any problems, and when I get to the higher boost i think that 2" will do just fine. I think anything BIGGER than the 2" is going to give you problems.

pr0craztinazndate not saved · #18

:honda:, but in all seriousness, you probably do have at least 200hp at the crank, otherwise there is no way you could stomp on a gsr that weighs less and ostesibly puts out more power than a vg30e s12. i can't wait until you finish breaking the car in so you can get it dyno'ed!

Alex Frostdate not saved · #19

I only ricers under stood the term "weight transfer"...ricers piss me off. Especially the ones that think they can drift a Civic better than all other cars on the road...not that I would show them up or anything...;) 8)
