I'm wondering what you guys think about the hatch that didn't come with a wing? I don't mean a hatch with the wing removed and holes plugged I mean the hatch that didn't come with a wing at all. I'm undecided on how I feel about the way it looks.
Ill post a pic tomorrow of it

A what?

sideways_s12Apr 15, 2013, 2:17 am · #4

I could take it or leave it I think it depends on the set-up of the car like Iggy's silver hatch I loved the wingless look but my black hatch would look like shit without it imo. Like I said it depends on the set-up and color scheme as well. There are alot of good looking hatches without them but then there are just as many good looking hatches with them....

night_s12Apr 15, 2013, 2:26 am · #5

True I get what your saying. I'm not too sure about the look tho.

IggyEGuanaApr 15, 2013, 11:51 am · #6

i like wingless hatch! the secret bonus is the stickers that say Nissan 200sx are up high on the hatch instead of down on that trim piece

seishukuApr 15, 2013, 4:04 pm · #7

I like em, BUT only with mk1 rear trim... They look weird with mk2 trim.

I would not sit on that.  Not if you like it anyway.
night_s12Apr 15, 2013, 5:08 pm · #10

I sit on mine all the time.I'm on it right now. Has never been loose or cracked.

SchizophrenicMCApr 15, 2013, 7:46 pm · #11

If the spoiler can be used to lift the hatch, I can sit on it safely. Why are the hatches on S12s so damn heavy?

RomeroApr 15, 2013, 9:15 pm · #12

because murica....lol i have to say i like wings on hatchs

sideways_s12Apr 16, 2013, 1:44 am · #13

I sit on mine all the time when it was running anyway and i weigh 290 never had a problem...

night_s12Apr 16, 2013, 1:46 am · #14

For some reason yours doesn't look right maybe it's the angle of the pic

I_heart_VVLApr 17, 2013, 9:34 am · #18

Looks decent if youre real low, but nobody is even close to that on this board.

MKII wing = seat

MKI wing = no seat

I'm noticeably not the huge guy in the yellow shirt. In fact, I'm not even in the picture.

Here's a wingless image for ya's to look at:

I personally want a wing for this one, along with a complete turbo kit and front lip and all that jazz.  I prefer the look of the wing.

Also, I'm lowering the rear more, that's as low as I can get it with factory shocks.  (Front has S14 Cusco's)

All hatches look better with a wing imo

The rear one?  I think our NZ bumpers are different to the US ones.  I know the front ones seem to be.

sideways_s12Apr 22, 2013, 2:06 am · #34

Yeah the rear looks longer than ours but as i look at it again it might just be the angle of the pic...

i think the wing vs no wing is a hotter debate now than hatch vs notch. full blown war next

night_s12Apr 25, 2013, 12:39 am · #40

I gotta agree with you on that iggy

Brandon GMay 24, 2013, 1:11 am · #41

All depends on the setup really, a stock MK1 looks weird without it in my opinion because the rear bumper just sticks out too much. On the other hand, some cars can pull it off very nicely, lower it a bit and shave off the rear windshield wiper and I think it's doable.

But as a general rule of thumb: S12+wing  :tongue2:
