Hello all,

I have been looking at this 88 200sx in the us market for a couple of days now. It comes with the vg30 motor in it :sick: hopefully I can get a ca18 motor from my local parts hound. The car has minimal rust which should be a great platform to drift with. The interior is in terrible shape, and smells like 50 old people play Baccarat in it every other day. However I love vintage cars, they just call out to me like a whore in the night. so happy to have a great forum with tons of infomation about the car. since i have been trolling the site for almost a week now. :yes:

So a drift build? Is the VG in it no good? Youre wanting to put a CA18ET in there? You'll need a 4cyl crossmember, and that's not a worthwhile swap, at all.

Please dont swap the vg for a four cyl if the vg is still good use that if its not rebuild it and use it anyway vg cars are rare and I know its your car and all but dont expect any sympathy from our members if yoh swap it out. Welcome and post some pics

i will find out this weekend if the vg motor is good or not. just sold my SC300 so i can use that to work on the car.

yes i been trying to get a decent car to drift in for some time now. it's this out of my grasp for this season i think!

if the VG is good i might look into trading for a differnt car! maybe on here!

if it is bad then it will be stripped of all the good parts and sold to fund the new motor. ca18 is really cheap swap and can good numbers. as long as you take good care of it.

If you ask me, the SC300 would have been a great platform with a 1JZ/2JZ swap. Was it a 5spd or auto?

Even if the CA is a cheap swap your gonna have to find a crossmember from one of the 4cyl versions. Which can be a pain in the ass. You'd be better off keeping the vg. If anything pick it up and put it up for a trade on here and I can almost be certain you'll get tons of offers.

Plus I'm with gustard on his opinion on swapping out the vg :D there just not common enough to gut out

well as i suspected the vg30 is trash every seal, and gasket it bad from none use. i even have compression in the cyclinders after putting oil in them runs like a champ tho! needs an exhaust. the owner of the car said he might want to keep it and pay me to do the rebuild i was like i dont think so! lol so now that after 2 weeks of work on the car i have to wait for new brakes and rotors flush the entire brake system, and driver it home in a week or so! sooner if it wouldnt have snowed 13 inchs a couple of days ago!
