So I am having a problem with the wipers they don't want to go all the way up or down and when u turn em off they stop almost in the middle of the winshield...its def not the wiper arm adjustments...any input would be greatly appreciated I'm lost!

ProlowtoneDec 25, 2011, 11:03 pm · #13

ummmm... not a clue.. ill try to find my fsm to see if it says anything for trouble shooting. tho i doubt it does

turbo-s12Dec 26, 2011, 1:01 am · #14

Thanks let me know if u find something^

turbo-s12Dec 30, 2011, 7:25 pm · #15

No one knows what would cause that?

rednucleusDec 30, 2011, 11:46 pm · #16

When mine does this I need to cycle the switch stick several times - suggests bad contacts to me. Notice alot more in winter. Maybe take the control out and clean contacts?

turbo-s12Dec 31, 2011, 12:36 am · #17

Ya ill try that but I'm pretty sure its not the problem it does it all the time not once in a while....but t hanks for the idea ill try it

I_heart_VVLDec 31, 2011, 1:13 am · #18

you might also want to check and clean the grounds.

Check the motor itself.
Mine did this when I cleaned the motor once. Replaced it and all was well.
turbo-s12Dec 31, 2011, 4:19 am · #20

Ill look for a new motor its not the switch

turbo-s12Feb 15, 2012, 8:53 pm · #21

JayFeb 15, 2012, 8:56 pm · #22

Probably a vacuum leak, or stuck egr valve. 99% of the time high idles are stupid simple stuff.

turbo-s12May 2, 2012, 3:23 am · #35

is it just me or does it look like the front wheel sits back way too far back in the fender???

d_k_jose_s12May 2, 2012, 5:27 am · #36

It looks like it does

rifelman1993May 2, 2012, 12:23 pm · #37

every s12 iv ever seen looks like that.. its just how they were made. one thing tho. diffrent rims/tires make it better to see then others

ArroMay 2, 2012, 1:08 pm · #38

about the front wheels, that's caster, and that's because usually S12's have been driven into parking spaces and the driver hits the curb or whatever... the tension rod brackets are actually domed a bit towards the back. Taking off the tension rods and hammering the bracket holes more flush will bring some of the caster back in position. Also, as control arm bushings wear out, this also allows the wheel caster to increase. Replacing the bushings with fresh urethane ones will help remove some of that. And yet another problem is that sometimes from hitting potholes and again curbs and such, the engine crossmember itself is a little tweaked where it connects to the control arm, or (which was my case) the control arms themselves are tweaked.

These are 25-year old cars, with (usually) original arms, bushings, and stressed tension rod brackets.

turbo-s12May 2, 2012, 3:47 pm · #39

Thanks arro didnt think of that gunna have to check it out...were can i get some urethane bushings for the control arm?

turbo-s12May 17, 2012, 11:44 pm · #40

Finally gunna take it to a shop this week to get the volt drain fixed and got some new rotors, ceramic pads and a wiper motor

you could get the BC ones or any used S13 coils you find, or you can go the weld-on route. both really good, its just up to you whether you like fab work or piecing together random  little parts.

looks good man! :)
turbo-s12Sep 3, 2012, 6:45 pm · #45

Ya i m just gunna put s13 coils in the front, it sure is really hard to find JUST front coilovers for a 240 im prolly gunna end up with whatever i can find...

Ok so ive had this problem for a while......when i start the car up the alternator doesnt charge until i rev it up past 3-4k i thought it would be the alt but i changed it and its still doing it, thinking it might still be the alt(due to getting a bad reman alt) but maybe something else?? Any suggestions will help alot thanks in advance

RoofSep 10, 2012, 7:41 pm · #47

Yo man I've honestly never seen an s12 that doesn't do that.  Mine did that for the last like 3 or 4 years and I'm not really sure why either.

pakii-afaSep 10, 2012, 8:59 pm · #48

voltage regulator? i dont know to much about our charging systems but i know some cars can idle without the alt charging until the voltage gets really low and the car almost dies. that triggers an exciter wire and the alt starts charging from that point, and the safety behind that is to rev to a limit (ours is around 3900 i think) and that forces the alt to charge as well.
