His car has been there for a few weeks now right? That really blows Sad

If he has 5k, why not get his car back?

VG33ERGazelle? on 04:09:21 PM / 10-Oct-11jay's gonna have us all owning a bmw of some sort one way or another, you watch.
Colonel Gustard on 04:59:33 PM / 10-Oct-11^that, hes like a BMW salesman

No... Notice I didn't recommend an E36 that costs less.
Classic BMW salesmen. Nothing newer. Newer BMW's aren't even BMW's anymore. They lost their panache after the E30

My car is pretty broken and would need even more attention than usual and we're talking 3k plus to get it out which is not worth it at all for an S12. I can get an s12 any day, I need a crazy mpg'er so I can start selling everyone their parts again.

we have had a few subies in my family and i think they get terrible mpg and they have a lot of issues but thats wat ive just gathered over the past few years....if i were to buy one id get the metro cus of awesome gas mileage or the mazda protege just my two cents

Protoge?  No.  You are so incredibly wrong that wrong looks at you and says "You're wronger than I am".

Those things are pretty well known for electrical problems among other things.

WonderingravenOct 11, 2011, 3:58 pm · #7

every car is going to have their issues, I'd go for the best option for you, maybe just call them up, take a cruise and check them out before deciding. They are on CL, and cars on CL normally sold because either people need the money, they upgraded, or want the max money and tired of monkeying with the problems.

If you want gas mileage, and reliability get a new hyundai! I'm sure they are still giving away their cars to people still, and with 5k down it shouldn't be no problem in house financing the rest.

Dave, by that logic, this forum is the single wrongest place on earth.

Use the notch.

Mazda protéger are known for their rear brake issue, caliper seizing, etc... plus the paint is one of the worst you could buy... up here, they usually rust within the first 4 years of ownership... they also have electrical issues and are not good at all on gas (except the 1.6L) the 2.0 is just awful... just my 2cents...

Colonel GustardOct 11, 2011, 11:52 pm · #11

he has bought a car already, I got to drive it down about 100+ miles Smiley, and the damn gas needle refused to move that wholre time!

MaxpowOct 12, 2011, 12:28 pm · #12

Yeah its a pretty sweet 2007 KIA SPECTRA with only 45k miles. Love this car. Thanks for the imput guys. Clutch engage is really high up and I am brainstorming ideas to address that other than a clutch bleed.

tommyOct 13, 2011, 5:11 am · #13

Maybe someone learned to drive stick in this car.... hence some of those 45k miles have been done with the clutch slipping like crazy and your in for a new clutch disk...

SchizophrenicMCOct 13, 2011, 5:26 am · #14

I learned to drive stick in the Saturn. In the 170k on the car, we've swapped the clutch once, but that was 50k before I ever drove it.

I don't know what the forum does late at night, but I think I understand what you mean?

If Proteges are wrong for having lots of problems, what does that make S12s?

imtheguy247Oct 13, 2011, 12:36 pm · #17

How about a Toyota Camry? Four doors, great MPG. though it may be hard finding one with a manual in it
