:$ we let ourselves go by the sound of that machine xD

AT LAST I MADE THE FREAKING TRANS MOUNT GO INTO PLACE!! Happy dance.
with this, mounting the engine phase is finally over.

now on to connect everything, even tho i still have problems with the computer.
i currently im on a fork road on whether buy a BIG intercooler and fuck the bumper or dunno what other solution.
or go with 6" tall and put it in the tiny bumper hole :P

and to whether buy a new full aluminum rad or change the core of mine and make it two channels.

on another note... SUSPENSION: while the site was down i was reading the s12silvia how to s13 coilovers (link http://s12silvia.com/community/index.php?/topic/428-s13-coilover-suspension/) and they were talking about a bunch of stuff that differ (well not really differ but you know) like that you shouldnt use the S12 lca and tr and go with s13 and r1 respectively. (you can but you shouldnt acording to them)

the thing is: im planning to go megan racing coils...
and i know i need the s13 front conversion...
my question is: what is the BEST/SAFEST way to do the conversion while keeping costs to the minimum?
I_heart_VVLDec 30, 2011, 2:44 pm · #53

S13 spindles/hubs/brakes, S12 LCA with a S13 balljoint pressed in and your choice of franken-tie rod setup is the bare minimum. I believe Jay used Ford Escort ones? I'm not sure. Or cut S13 tie rods cause they're a bit long. There's literally tons of different tie rod setups lol.

just remember to use the balljoint intended for the spindle, and the tension rod intended for the LCA.

thnx man, im currently searching high and low for the S13 spindles & hubs. i didnt know i needed the balljoint.

on another note, santa was a little late but better late than never. heres what he brought:

quiz time: MUST i remove the huge/heavy metal bar in order to put the intercooler? what about the fan and the whole lot of shit behind it?
where did you guys route the piping?
ViksonfireJan 1, 2012, 9:52 am · #55

can i use the ca20e maf w/ the sr?

ProlowtoneJan 1, 2012, 9:58 am · #56

Even if you could i would say not to, Its a restrictive little flap box type

shiet, that means i need to buy one. what are the options, do i have to use the sr one or a ka/z32 will suffice?

If urnot going to use the ac in the s12 you can take the condenser and the fan and all of the pipes
And their has been some people that cut a part of the bar and also the frint bumper to put the ic

ProlowtoneJan 1, 2012, 11:19 pm · #59

you can use the sr or you can find a Z32 Maff with the pig tail and wire it in (can buy the kit online or maybe look for a diagram/How to)

vegasS12Jan 2, 2012, 10:36 am · #60

i have a sr maf let me know if you need it i think i have 2 actually. but you can use the z32 one aswell.
like said before you may need to cut it or mount it in a way you dont have to i believe keith mounted an intercooler about your size with out cutting the front bar.

ViksonfireJun 23, 2012, 4:00 pm · #61

The car runs, the engine performs awesome. the only thing that has me a little worried is the fact that you guys say that the engin does not sit slanted but mine does.   :\
i need to buy a bushings set, mine are super eaten. which would you guys recomend?
and brakes, i really need brakes.

vegasS12Jun 23, 2012, 4:05 pm · #62

are you keeping the stock S12 suspension?
If you are I would get the Z31 full bushing kit. It pretty much covers every bushing on the car except the rear subframe bushings i believe.

ViksonfireJun 23, 2012, 4:25 pm · #63

i have an S14 Spindle & brakes.
soon i will be buying the  S14 cross member and will need the suspension.

but the ones i  need the most are: tension rods, sway bar, and the steering rack bushings.
as the wont align the wheels of my car due to the state of them.
Z31?

vegasS12Jun 23, 2012, 4:52 pm · #64

why are you buying a s14 cross member?

Z31 is the 83-89 nissan 300zx.

Sorry, my bad. i meant control arm xD
I_heart_VVLJun 24, 2012, 2:32 pm · #66

make sure to reroute your blow off valve back into your intake after the maf or its going to run hella rich on deceleration!

looks good, but for the love of god clean up that engine bay!

ViksonfireJul 8, 2012, 10:53 am · #67

after a couple of days with the car running, i tried to start the car and it didnt turn on.
at first it cranked but didnt start and then it just started to have clicking sound no crank
a friend says its the switch, i believe its the starter.
my question is: how do i wire start the car?

and what are those two wires above the key hole?

ViksonfireSep 1, 2012, 4:32 pm · #68

ok now we have figured what the clicking sound was and the starter works...
but some how we are not getting spark.
My car used to work so i dont believe its the CAS or the Module thingy.
but i dont know where to look.
EDIT: i looked in the coils plug and the ECU dont seem to be getting power.
fuck, cheers to checking the harness now.

this proyect is moving so freaking slow it hurts.
i wish i had more time.

ViksonfireSep 2, 2012, 6:39 pm · #69

So after a whole sunday working on it i found all the problems
and the car is now starting again!! YAY!

the causes where a faulty ignition switch, an unplugged starter cable (the main live wire)
a cutted cable, and a broken o-ring at injector one.

:)
so after starting up the car smoked one heck of a lot
and was throwing out (spewing almost) after X RPM´s oil\gas mixture (i think) from the pcv hose that connects to the mani (it is unpllugged right now)
what could be the reason for this? ^

again, im building up mechanical/electrical knowledge on the go.
thats the reason why i ask so many silly questions.

d_k_jose_s12Sep 2, 2012, 10:59 pm · #70

Que bueno q tu carro esta funcionando denuevo

ViksonfireSep 9, 2012, 6:33 pm · #71

so the pcv oil/gas thingy solved itself.
im just worrying about the smoke, no one wants to run one of those smoker cars
its not just from the tailpipe, the smoke starts coming out from the turbo area after the car is hot.  :(
my steering rack bushings are on the way and im buying the rest of the suspension parts on friday  to go s13 onversion
YAY!

ill be moving in a couple of weeks and in the new house ill have my personal garage with a storage room to use as "shop" (if i may call it that way.)
does anyone know how to test, fix each part of our analog clusters? i need something to read my temperature. also i want to run a stock cluster :$

So here in my country we had a couple of "Off days"
that i used to chill with friends and work on the car.
this was the preparation of the workplace:

We changed and painted the front suspension.

and of course forgot to take any nice pictures.

we are just missing out the Coils which a friend should be giving me this weekend.

On sunday, i spent the day with my friend working on his totally unrelated car. XD
but i still feel like saying it.
a '90 Swift with an 4a-GE 20v.

Also the Engine is chomping on the spark plugs (not literally of course) like a mother fucker.
the last set didnt last 10 hours (adding up all the little "lets warm him up" starts) and the car wasn't moving xD
its running rich as hell. im thinking vacuum leak or turbo leak? im really hoping its not the maf.

and im thinking of rebuilding my Steering rack, its leaking like a full glass of beer on a bumpy road.

NEWSFLASH: I might get my hands on a set of 92's :D

Post Merge

Viksonfire ok i feel like i really need to be sure on this... so noob question:
how do i install the injectors on a SR20? (dont get me wrong i know how, i just think i have been doing it the wrong/cheap way)
i have read that the injectors need to make a *pop* sound, also that i need to lube the orings & and that i need to use special magical fuel orings. none of which i have made before.

nvm, lubing them worked.
ViksonfireApr 9, 2013, 2:19 pm · #75

Nvm on the 92's the guy was being a bish with the price.

but on the other hand:
i got my hands on these

ViksonfireFuck
my car stopped starting once again.
i have spark and pulse
and the engine turns
but the engine doesnt even chocke (attempts too start)
any ideas?

SchizophrenicMC Do you have fuel?
Or is that what you mean by pulse
If you have fuel and spark, you either don't have compression or your ignition timing is off

Viksonfirei have fuel, what would cause no compresion?
and i have reset my timing several times with that what the FSM and the interwebs say.
it doesnt even try to start.
could it be the battery?

SchizophrenicMC You turn the key, does the engine crank?
If it cranks the engine at full starting speed, it's not the battery

Viksonfireits not at full cranking speed, but it used to start at that speed.
and by crank i mean the starter turns the engine. but no atempt to start

Colonel Gustard hook up a jumper cable from another car

Chatbox[07:06:38 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: Hooked a Jumer cable and tried to jump start it.
[07:06:57 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: not even a slight attempt to start
[07:09:00 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] SchizophrenicMC: http://imgur.com/a/PK2fv lol, isuzu
[07:09:19 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] SchizophrenicMC: Viks, it's not a battery problem. Have you checked your starter?
[07:16:12 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: no, because the engine turns/cranks.
[07:17:06 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: could it be the starter even when it turns?
[07:17:55 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] SchizophrenicMC: Okay, describe in detail what's happening
[07:18:04 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] SchizophrenicMC: You turn the key and then....
[07:19:29 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: the starter comes on and "spins" the crankshaft. for as long as i have the key turned.
[07:20:18 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: then engine cranks but does not "ignite any fuel"
[07:21:21 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] SchizophrenicMC: Presuming it's cranking at the speed it needs to be, are the fuel injectors firing? When they fire, are they sending enough fuel?
[07:21:37 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] SchizophrenicMC: Have you tried cranking with your foot slightly on the throttle?
[07:22:22 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: they are firing, we pulled the fuel rail and tested them outside they all fire.
[07:22:41 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: they are firing a little weird tho
[07:22:50 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: as all off them fire at the same time
[07:22:57 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] SchizophrenicMC: Batch fuel injection
[07:23:18 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] SchizophrenicMC: CAs have batch injection, not sequential
[07:23:35 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: i dont know if they are sending enought fuel
[07:24:00 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] SchizophrenicMC: Have you tried starting it with the throttle slightly open?
[07:25:05 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: yup. closed, sligly open, half open fully open. everything
[07:25:56 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] SchizophrenicMC: Are you getting spark then?
[07:27:33 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: yup. we tried the screwdriver test, got spark.
[07:27:59 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: we took out a sparkplug and put it agains a ground and got spark too
[07:28:47 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] SchizophrenicMC: Are you getting spark at the right time then?
[07:30:40 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: thats one nice question. i dont really know. but i followed these steps http://www.frsport.com/How-To-Set-Crank-Angle-Sensor--CAS--Timing-on-the-SR20DET-Engine_t_25.html to set it on time.
[07:30:56 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: so im assuming yes
[07:31:37 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] SchizophrenicMC: What engine do you have?
[07:31:57 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: s13 sr20det
[07:35:54 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] SchizophrenicMC: Mmmm....
[07:36:15 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] SchizophrenicMC: Well, if the CAS is in the right position, I don't know what to tell you
[07:40:59 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: T___T
[07:41:14 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: Thank you for your time and patience
[07:42:40 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] jgonzaga: Hello everyone!  I havwe a problem with my speedometer.  Can anyone assist me?
[07:42:58 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] SchizophrenicMC: It's either the gauge or the speedo cable
[07:46:08 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] jgonzaga: I replaced the entire digital cluster five times, the speedometer cable three times, the speed sensor twice and just had my transmission checked yesterday.  Still showing "0" off and on while on the freeway.  Had some soldering done on the cluster.
[07:49:10 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Wonderingraven: wow, just kept up with a camaro
[08:05:33 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] StephenG: Hey Vilks, will it start on starting fluid?
[08:15:15 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: starting fluid? whats that?
[08:16:03 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] StephenG: Im not sure what its made out of, but its a oxide rich flammable liquid in a spray can
[08:16:11 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] StephenG: You spray it in the intake
[08:16:27 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] StephenG: Good way to verify if your spark/compression/timing are working
[08:16:48 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: ill see if i can get a hold of that
[08:16:57 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] StephenG: Autoparts stores should have it
[08:17:29 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] StephenG: If it will catch and start up on that, means your issue is fuel delivery
[08:22:21 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] Viksonfire: i did once try to start it throwing gas directly on the mani but some kind of "out of time ignition/explosion" occured and the mani was filled with smoke right after
[08:26:27 PM / 11-Apr-13 ] StephenG: Well, that would make me check the timing
