It got a 16995 price tag!
Saavedro88Nov 14, 2010, 1:29 am · #2

Serious?? How many miles are on it? It should be made of gold for that price tag...

seishukuNov 14, 2010, 1:31 am · #3

totally original and has 16k miles

You think you could like flip the picture 90 degrees?  Breakin' my damn neck over here...

zastabaNov 14, 2010, 1:41 am · #5

wow that' s pricey! - but good luck finding another one with that kind of low millage.

seishukuNov 14, 2010, 1:49 am · #6

Lol sorry about the pic, I'm on my wife's blackberry

I'd love to have it, but its just not worth that much. I don't even think it was a turbo!

tommyNov 14, 2010, 2:27 am · #7

No stock turbo gen II celica supra ever came with turbo... they had stock the 5m-ge dohc 12 valve straight 6

seishukuNov 14, 2010, 2:33 am · #8

Oh that's right, they didn't get a turbo until 87 right?
My supra-fu is weak. cheesy

a lot of gen 2 have been swaped with the 7mgte from the gen 3.. 1986-1992 which is a 24 valve dohc turbo that everybody knows about and it is a fairly easy drop... for that price, I atleast expect it to have one of those or something a little crazier like a 1jz, 2jz or who knows what else, I've seen 1uz in those also...

On the other hand, the stock w58 tranny in the gen 2 will never outlive a mildly or even stock 7mgte... but the turbo r154 is one hell of a hard and expensive find so I guess that would bring hte price up (assuming it has something swapped in there)

as for a stock gen 2... 150hp with trailing arms at the rear.... i would never pay so much as 16 grand for it... 6grand for a hell of a nice car with stupidly low milage would be more than enough... although I really doubt that a 25 years old car could have so low milage... my 2010 mazda3 as already half that milage... on the clock....lol

seishukuNov 14, 2010, 3:45 am · #10

I think the mileage is spot on, the leather interior looks brand new, the paint is damn near perfect... Though it could have been a respray, but it looks like it's been in a garage all it's life.

From what I could see, it didn't look like a 7m or a jz, the exhaust looked like it might have been origial oem too and not like what a engine swap would have.

Really awesome nice car, but like you said, its only worth MAYBE 6k.

Even with that milage that is just downright rediculous...

sam31183Nov 14, 2010, 7:10 am · #12

your used car dealers snort some pretty strong coke out there.

That car wasnt worth that much new off the lot....80s cars havent gained yet in value...so...somebody is high as fuck. Maybe in another 17 years in that same condition with those miles that price....might be more realistic...but most of the 80s japanesse cars are gone...the value is going to stay low...where it belongs. Go offer them 800 bucks, thats the cars true street value.

theres a tan one i found the other day at a lot goin to a piss test, i stopped and looked at it cause i was gannna test drive it for some gigz but they didnt have it priced or anything yet.

My friend and I just stripped and rebuilt his 1982 Toyota supra celica, P type. It is badass! I fucking love the car but they were 25 off the lot when they came out so, I would not pay that much. But I must say that is a very nice find

I owned an 86, they are really fun cars but the 5m is a bit of terd. But if you take the crank from a 7m you can make a stroker engine thats pretty fun. That price is insane though. If you want a supra thats fun you will need to do a swap, no reason to blow a ton a cash on that one.

firefoxNov 14, 2010, 1:09 pm · #16

i've had 5 of them
i have 2 right now.

for under 3 grand total

a 7m crank in a 5m makes a 6m engine
a 7m is a stroker 5m with 24v

Umaddum. A W58 will handle up to 250HP very reasonably well. Granted, the R154 IS much stronger, but it is in no way rare. It's certainly overpriced, but by no means is it hard to find.

You can swap a turbo manifold onto a 5m with only slight modification --> Profit.

Even for a super clean, super low mileage P-type, I have an incredibly hard time seeing it being worth even 6k... I've owned 3 Supra's (two 3rd gen's, 1 2nd gen) for less than that.

The 5M is a reasonably solid engine. I loved mine when I had it. Lots of strong brute force.

But speaking of unreasonably priced Supra's, there's a third gen supra at some Toyota dealership out in the mid-west with like 1,700 miles on it. The window sticker is something ridiculous like 72K$, but they've admitted they don't actually intend to sell it. It's there mostly as a nice conversation piece, Like a museum display or something.

w58 is a beast

some guy from supramania with a mk4 blew 3 r154's then he put a w58 and has been running it for 2 year now. runs mid 10s
r154 is good but so is the w58

MaxpowNov 15, 2010, 1:56 am · #19

Toyota is ghey.

That is all.

Not to start a fight here, but I've seen turboed 4agz(remove Z ad T)e engine rip through w58 in 3 gear changes....

Oh and I "miss said" the thing about the r154... I intended to say it was hard to come by for a decent price... you can get them everywhere... for over 2000$ lolll for a damn tranny...

The old W50 is IMO a lot stronger than the W58... although it weigh double... but the W40 is even stronger.... but misses a gear...
celestialsilviaNov 15, 2010, 6:22 am · #21

anybody ever see that 50th AE Z31 that keeps popping up on ebay motors? something like 10k original miles for around the same price, but CLEAN like off the showroom floor. youd buy something like that to garage it and barret jackson it in 40 years, not to drive it

mk3 turbo supras are always in the junkyards with 5sp

they are not rare and they are cheap as shit here in az.
