This is your new home my friend.
Bryan Petersi got a new ca18det for my 1986 200sx.befor i install it is ther a lot of tips for a easier way to install it one the mk1 platform. There are a lot of tips with this useful tool called the search feature. It will have all the info you need to know. Except for maybe wiring info because you have the undesirable Mk1.5.
hey i desire the mk1.5 lol I like it
you just like wiring induced headaches...
thats what im worried about
it is possible right, its sort of hard for me to do electrical because im electricly-retarted.
PS how do you put pics on the forum?
sam31183you just like wiring induced headaches...
lol your right the wiring is a pain in the ass lol
and to be ontopic you can always ask Iggyeguana he has a det swap that is pure tits and he is very knowledgeable and willing to help.
I don't understand why you posted a question about the CA18DET in the "Off-Topic Media" section, when there is a "CA18DET Tech" section for just this kind of question. I'm going to move it there, please post in the proper sections in the future.
HELP!! I got my car back from a mechanic that would not work on it fr almost 2 years - I charged the battery up, and the factory alarm light just blinks and the car wont crank or fire..
I tried to use the key to lock and unlock the car and set the alarm, disconnected the battery and hooked it back up, but that did not seem to make a difference, same deal - flashing security light and no start... SIGH..
Any one have this issue or idea's to get the alarm off.. Trying to get it Started so I can address the other issues...
Thanks in advance
BTW - it is a 1.8T
Take the passenger seat out, it is the metal box under there. I don't know if it is the same with all S12's but, I have a 87 SE and that's where mine was (I took it out long ago). There is a plug in the side, just unplug that. Don't know if that will solve you problem but, it's a start.
^ did the same with mine.
You don't have to remove the seat, just move it all the way forward and reach underneath and unplug it.
Had the same issue when I first got mine. Damn white trash sales dude had a wire running from the starter up to the battery so you could tap them together and get it started. Even then, damn light would randomly start blinking. Its a quick solution just to diconnect the stock alarm system. I've got a 88 SE and it was under the passenger seat but I think I heard somewhere that it might be in the passenger side kick panel (the right side panel, opposite side to the ecu)
Its a temp solution but if you want a alarm system in your car, just spend 50 bucks for a decent one.
It doesn't blink when it's armed....it'll blink when the doors, hood, trunk/ hatch is open with the key turned off. When it is armed the light stays solid for 30 secs, then goes out and stays out.....so if yours is always blinking, it's not armed and the car not starting has nothing to do with the alarm. since it's dis-armed.
Check the fuses....I forget which one, but one of mine was loose, and it would cause the alarm light to blink when the engine was on, if I would hit a bump or something. I think it was the interior lighting fuse, or radio fuse.
Just an update - I got it started and it runs... Now the problem seems to be in hard bost, driving normal it is fine, but at wot it starts to cut out at 5+ on boost. I know this is not the right section for it. I think it might be teh pop up vavle on the mannifold.
if you have the pop-up valve then thats more than likely your boosting issue
