Welcome! you'll find lots of info on here. I would recommend adding your location to your profile. do you have any plans for the car? also, it says ca20de in your profile.. if thats right, its a Dual OHC 2.0?

Welcome to the site.  If you have questions or want to know how upgrade something, anything, always search first because nine times out of ten there is an answer somewhere in the site.  People hate it when us noobs dont search and you'll most likely get the old flame treatment.  If you still dont find the answer, ask the guys here and they are nice enough to give you, or find the answer for you.  Otherwise good luck on the build and keep a log of what u do and update us, we always like to see project threads!

I'm not a big fan of mismatched heart plants, but I'm glad to see that someone loves the 13B. They can be great engines! Nice to see it getting swapped into something instead of out. Welcome and looking forward to the progress  straight

i had to sell the swap so now I'm thinking of a v8 swap but i'm not sure yet

2toneSilviaNov 8, 2010, 9:42 pm · #16

VH45?  yay! I don't know about other parts of the country, but the LS1 swap is more popular than any Nissan engine swap here.

FridayNightHeatNov 9, 2010, 2:06 am · #17

ls1 is a very high priced swap I was thinking of a sc400 motor in it or something like that a vh45 my work just depends on what i can find lol

If money is an issue I would stay away from the v8 swaps all together unless your a complete bad ass at welding and fabricating. For instance for the vh45de swap, the vh45de's themselves are pretty cheap but buying all the prefabricated pieces from Mazworx to make them fit in the s12 (well technically designed for the s13 but should work in the s12) is at least roughly 2 grand if not more. And that doesn't include all the smaller expenses associated with any motor swap or the motorset itself. Honestly I don't even think I have seen a completed running v8 swap into an s12 yet, at least here on cs12 anyway.

Yeah, you're correct about the engine prices. They sound badass, but after exhaust and headers, you get about 280whp from the VH45. It's easier to go with an SR20 and it has a lot more room for improvement. Totally up to the individual, but I think if you're wanting a larger engine, a Nissan 6 cylinder is the way to go (RB or VG). The fabrication and wiring would be a nightmare with a V8 from another company. Unless you're really great at those, in which case, more power to you!  cool2 Just don't want you to end of like some guys who have a 2 year build sheet and the car still doesn't run, ya know?

FridayNightHeatNov 9, 2010, 2:21 pm · #20

i understand lol im not going to start the build until i have all the parts so when i start i will have everything to do it
