welcome, $1200 for a car that doesn't run is kinda alot, but yes the $400 ka24 basicly bolts right in and would fix that problem so, i guess its up to you, post your location in your profile, and search around, you might find a better deal, you allready found the best place for s12 related info on the net (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

thanks sinestro location info Added:)
looks like while i was posting that he sent me a e-mail it said he would get it running
befor i bought it so i guess that would make it a running s12 for $1,200
would that change much,
or is it still tad to high?

yeah man 1200 is very high for a non running s12. see if you can break the guy down to 1000 at the most.

rduranS12 tomorrow when i go back down to take another look i will see how much i can talk him down. iam going to try and offer $800-$900 is that a better price for a clean s12 that just needs a bit of work to run? or should i start off lower?

JonBNov 27, 2008, 12:59 am · #7

I paid $250 for my first one for the trans in the trunk. $900 for my second one, That was to much but it was the only one around. And I wanted it pretty bad. Depends how patient you can be. I think the guy with the one your looking at should go down abit.

RedneckNov 27, 2008, 1:15 am · #8

$1,200 is a lot for a non running s12 unless it is completely mint otherwise and even then thats kinda high. I got my 85 turbo for basically free (and almost completely mint body/interior) although it didn't run and I got my 88 SE for $800 and it just needed a clutch, driverside window and tune up. The fact that it is a basemodel hatch and an 86 (a funky transition year that isn't the best ideal year for engine swaps although can be done) just makes it all the more less valuable. I have seen ca18det swaped s12's only going for 2,000 to 2,500. One of the great things about s12's is that they are generally free or extremely cheap. If the guy wants $1,200 he probably won't go down more than $300 and $900 is still expensive for a non running basemodel s12. If you have money to burn and want it now then you can definetly go for it but if you want to hold out there are definetly a lot cheaper (if not free) s12's in Washington. The only thing that is bad for you is your location since most s12's are sold in the Puget Sound area.

do you want a notch aka coupe? if so check this

http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/cto/927399844.html

if your looking for a project one I wouldn't recomend but if you don't have $$ try this

http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/926063797.html

but I paid 600 for my running and driving s12 and all it needed was a diff (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

hi every one thanks for the advice if he will not lower i will let it pass.....

now i have found a 1985 coupe 5spd runs and drives clear tittle never wrecked
for a little over $500

this is what he told me about the car
'"""I have a 1985 200sx notchback 5spd rwd; has good interior, new tires, small dent on front of hood and about a baseball size dent in the front left fender (was going to have the dents fixed, but ended up finding a spare hood and finder that fit but different colors.)

A friend of mine that found the car while i was looking for a older corolla said that either it has a loose vacuum somewhere or a bearing needs to be replaced, other then that it runs and starts everytime
it has a clean title; was never wrecked, i dont think it has any rust but ill look over it again tomorrow to be sure""""

here is a pic
(IMG:http://img399.imageshack.us/img399/2491/85s12pg0.th.jpg)

is this a better deal?
again any advice is welcome
Thank You
Kyo

If it is Gopher/Barry, he's a good guy. I vouch for him. By the way, where is Soap Lake?

S-NationS12Nov 28, 2008, 3:38 pm · #16

Going from 240 to S12 JUST LIKE ME! Same color as both mine too, lol RED!
I'm actually really happy overall with my S12 even though it breaks more then the S13...its...spunky, lol

Yeah I went to Soap Lake like 8 years ago. The water was fairly warm but was kinda nasty and scummy. I mean not like scummy from sludge just all the minerals and stuff. I felt gross after I got out from swimming.

As for the s13 vs s12 driving experience I have driven the s12, s13, s14, z31 and 510. When comparing them I would say that the s12, z31 and 510 are all similar handling wise because of their semi-trailing rear arm suspension designs. They don't really like to drift in my opinion unless you deliberatly are really trying to break traction or it is wet out (but thats almost any rwd platform when its wet, they wanna slide). The s13 and s14's rear multi-link suspension seems alot more suitable for both grip and drift as to the s12, z31 and 510 being a lot better grip cars. Obviously a lot of people build s12's to drift so I am not saying at all that you can't build an s12 up to drift. It's just that performance part for performance part the s13 and s14's multi-link rearends make drifting a lot more controllable then the s12's semi-trailing rear arm design. It was almost impossible to get my 510 to drift (and if you could it wasn't easy to control) as to where my old s14 had a lot easier time initating a drift and controlling it was way easier than the 510.

Yeah the s13 and s14 are popular but compared to what? They are probably definetly the most popular older rwd Nissan chasis but compared to say a Honda Civic they arn't even close to that type of popularity. I see 10x more stock or modded Civics then I see s13/s14's. They are popular to fellow Nissan guys but not in general. Most people have no idea the s13/s14 is even a performance car when you look at one stock unless they are into jap cars.
