I think they look great, the size is good too, but I've never heard of that brand of wheels.

they are just knock-offs of knock-offs (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

bigjerJun 16, 2008, 11:59 pm · #4

I know they are knockoff, but are they heavy? rigid? does the paint last?

@ sideways_s12: lol at your sig, someone just ask me today what years is my AE86 XD

Radracer_SJun 17, 2008, 4:43 pm · #6

^ From me. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Give credit there, buddy.

I'm pretty sure that these are heavy and paint lasting only 7-10 years or less.

ArroJun 17, 2008, 6:51 pm · #7

yeah, the "blind, cock-eyed prick" thing is a bit much, and you should edit that out. We cuss all the time in posts, but it gets buried in a thread, not seen on every post you make.

And some of you cuss in taglines, but it's not done in a harsh way, so it's not the same, either.

Just use *good judgement*, peeps.

caraudiofooleryJun 17, 2008, 7:19 pm · #8

those are okay actually, for the price and style, id say its worth it...

ive seen and handled these in person, they arent exactly light, nor heavy, maybe a little less so than a oem wheel

the quality is pretty good, just take care of them and the finish should last for a while

myth_S12Jun 17, 2008, 7:52 pm · #9

yeah, knock offs.

DR-20's are Work Equip 03 knock offs.
DR-28's are SSR/Watanabe/Enkei knock offs.

and so on..

oldschoolsilviaJun 17, 2008, 11:04 pm · #10

wow those are cheap lol... An entire set is cheaper than one of my RGII's (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Sean1978Jun 17, 2008, 11:23 pm · #11

cheap wheels are good for drifting. I have a few sets of expensive JDM wheels and I feel like i'd be retarded to risk destroying them at the track.

- If I destroy a Rewind, I can get a new one for $125.00.

- If I destroy a Volk, I'm SOL. If you have old school wheels that are out of production it can take an indefinite amount of time to replace them.

- If you aren't worried about destroying your uber-rare JDM wheels, you will push yourself harder on the track.

I work long and hard for all my stuff, so if you are rich OR have your family paying your way through life I guess my thoughts don't apply.

4 lug fail , 7in fail

hey, my back wheels are 15x7 4 lugs. They totally fail, right?
the fronts are 6.5 inch. I should kill myself.
(IMG:http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2219/2272265542_dceff89919.jpg)

And here I am with some all around failure this weekend:
the fronts are 15x7 0 offset 4 lugs, I guess I'm a total failure.

I'm talking about people with condescending attitudes about poor people's car parts who don't pay for there own. I don't think that applies to you (from what I have seen at least)

EDIT:

I have seen way too many retarded internet threads were people get flamed for buying knockoff wheels, and 95% of the wheels I see on peoples cars at drift events who actually drift are knockoffs (because it's retarded to drift on expensive wheels)

Contributing to this is the fact that 90% of the "flamers" have never driven there car on a track.

I guess I just have a pet peeve with people getting told that they are stupid for buying knockoffs.

Ya I know what youo mean, they are rich, you are poor, they are important and you are nothing and blabla.

I'm working hard with a low salarie to get my parts, so that's why I'm looking into knockoff. A SSR MKIII 5x7 cost the same than a set of 4 knockoff! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

That looks like a grip event to me, I'd say expensive wheels and grip events are a managable risk.

Drift events are a lot more of a wheel / tire destruction risk. I hit the side lip of the track sideways going at least twice this weekend, and at either point my tire could have exploded or my rim could have gotten bent or curbed.

Yeah, stop trying to be a victim. You take shit too seriously.

Umm so??? Drifting woo!!! Can fuck something up either way....

LOL those curbs in those pics are tiny compared to the rest around the track... Could have easily spun into one smashing a wheel... Anything can happen grip/drift same risks. Driving your car, mistakes happen shit gets broken.... But whatever I guess..

Haha nah not mineral wells.. That is just a patch of tarmac, a really beat up patch at that... That track is Motorsport Ranch, in Cresson... About a 15 or so min drive from me... And they are gold, but covered in some brake dust haha (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Yes you can run 9in wheels on an S12...but very few require a wheel that wide. Further more when you run high camber and are drifting very little more of that extra 2 inches is actually contacting the pavement. if you want the baller status of running those offsets with 9" you could always run the same offset as that 9"with a 7" and a 1"hubcentric spacer. Just be prepared to replace wheel bearings (in the same frequency that you would replace them with the equivalent 9"). My Sentra gets about 50-60,000 km's on the rear wheel bearings and thats running a 15X7 +10 rear. But handling wise it is a noticeable change. I would agree though that running expensive wheels for the track is taking a big risk...regardless as to whether is it drift or circuit. For the price, weight and offset Konig Rewinds are the best bet. There is another aspect to this as well. Finding 205-50-15 in a RA-1, Z214, or RE-01R is both easy and cheap. you try finding a 245-(any sidewall)-15 and the tires are harder to come by and much more expensive. Everything is relative. For 90% of the people out there there is no point in running Rays, Enkei, or other high end wheels or rubber. Put the extra coin towards that many more sets of tires, and get out there and beat the hell out of your S12

How can I take you as joking dude? "Get your shit together"? Dude, if you said that to me in public and I wasn't a buddy I'd lay you out cold lol...

Look, if you want people to take you lightly, then POST lightly. But this ain't it.

I dunno dude. Telling me to get it together is sorta like the pot calling the kettle black. Just my take on it.

Anyways, *most* of what I say in a thread is tongue and cheek. Most.

just buy the wheels, ive seen them on many Xbs before in both the higher and lower offset. the lower offset looks cooler of course (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

remember, if its stamped with the JL looking insignia on the wheel, it has met japanese engineering standards for safety and road use. and road use can be the most rigorus use a wheels sees, think about it

Ok and one last thing. I just searched on the site for konig rewind equipped S12 (wich is the same size as the DR-20) and the only one I've fin is the one from the beige racing s12 with an SRA. Do 15X7 0ET wil with a lowered S12? Cuz right know my front tire is partly inside the fender and gos about 1/2 of the fender while turning the wheels! Or maybe I'll raise a bit the front too help a bit (cuz right now my frame/floor clearance look likes henry frame clearance! O_o But even if I raise the front, I guess I'll need a bit fender rolling in front uh? Or maybe it's time for me to try out VW MKII fender flare.

mk2 vw flares fit??? any better than 240z ones??? cause ive got z ones, and i havnt put em on yet, but they dont look like theyll be perfect

I dunno, but I might try. I'll have to bring the car to the junkyard, take out a fender flare and test fit it. I know for sure that it will need some cuting, but that's not a problem, I just hope the wheel well diameter will be similar and that it would kind of fit my SE lip kit.

Who cares that they are knock-offs. If you like them and you paid for them, who are other people to complain about them. They are just wheels, who cares that they aren't name brand. This shit sounds like all the shit back in high school. Ooo you aren't wearing "x-brand" you aren't good enough. Its just clothes ffs.

Who cares that you have what people call "knock-offs" on your car. As long as they are strong and do the job, why should you care. There are more important things to worry about than what other people think. First of all its YOUR car, not theirs. Not to mention its your money that paid for it, isn't it. Its your car, put on it what you what. When I buy wheels, I am concerned with one person's opinion, mine. Its time other people did the same.

bigjerJul 6, 2008, 9:33 pm · #44

That my mind too! But I doesn't want to buy 20+ lbs wheels, or wheels that will need a new paint in 3 years. That's mostly for that reason I'm asking.

BTW, anyone could check the internal diameter on the low offset DR-20 to make sure that they will clear my brakes.
