ka24e transaxle

I hope you're not putting a transaxle in there lol.  Other than that looks cool.  Single cam KA's are sexy looking motors.

Think he means front end of the driveshaft?    Frank did you drill the rotors to 4 lug yourself?

I hope you have manifold wrap and a blanket made for the brake master cylinder/brake booster to prevent it from melting. Otherwise everything looks good so far!

This looks like quite a build you are doing.

Your interior looks strinkingly similar to mine, with the aftermarket tach jammed under the dash cowl, the 3 gauges hanging out in their pods on top, the steering wheel, and a piece of aluminium with switches mounted in it to replace the stereo.

I wish you luck navigating your IC piping around those pop-ups and still fitting it behind the rebar. All I can say is... MORE PICS!

julieim digging the garage, you have alot going on. this is a project ill be watching, keep it up

yah im pretty happy with the way the garage is now, before it was dirty and it was looking like a tornado went threw it . i have a lot of money invested in tools/parts and suply ...

now it's a bit cleaner and i rearrenged it, my friend just finished removing the top on his vert while i was installing new lights and disassembling the spare engine

i'll post updates tomorrow since i have alot of time to work on the car !
JulieFeb 25, 2008, 9:53 pm · #14

i got a 3 car garage thats on the other side of my property, so i have to walk a bit to do any car related work. luckly, i park infront of my house most of the time. right now i got the s12 in one bay - all taken apart, my audi under a cover in the 2nd bay till i find a buyer, and the 3rd one is empty and usually used for working and some storage. right now theres a gokart in there, a sportbike i dont own, and 2 dodge v8s im  storing for a friend. last time i used the bay was when i installed the exhaust on my truck and had it all laid out on the floor. ill be out there more in the summer, but right now its way too cold

it's 0 celcius in quebec, i live near bromont (1 hour east of montreal)
i go to the garage everyday which is 10 min away even if i don't have any car (got my 2005 lancer stolen 1 week ago and the insurance are pissing me off!!)

i just put alot of clothes and bring some music and it's not that bad ahahah

i wanna cruise down in the US this summer, if some members wanna meet me up i'd be glad to cruise down and show my ride, im just a bit scared of getting arrested for something , my car will look more like a race car so i don't wanna have any trouble ...

So today i went to the garage again to patch those nasty holes in my floor pan
brought one of my uncle to help me out since he restores old car everyday and has alot more experience then i do with this! i removed 70% of the tar on the floorpans and condamned the fuel pump hole in the trunk (a fuel cell is going there so i won't need it)

Also tought about something for the rear end since i'll be using a s13 bumper, since s13 have the licence plate IN the bumper maybe i'll fill up the rear valence like s13 also this means im throwing away the plastic part between the tail lights

i'll post pictures tomorrow, my sister will bring me back my camera. and im going there to finish cleaning the interior and prep it for paint !

still wondering which color i will use for the interior , any sugestion ?

FrankMar 6, 2008, 3:27 pm · #18

Worked on the car a bit yesterday. Removed the rest of the tar on the floor ... working on the tar on the rear wheel wells but that thing is a PAIN to get off. Fixed the holes in the floor. I also buffed most of the rust off the front floors (i live in quebec so rust IS omnipresent). Closed the hole for the fuel tank (i'll be using a cell in the trunk). The car is now rock solid! Slowly moving forward ...

Wow talk about a complete teardown of the entire car lol... looks like you're workin' hard at it, keep goin!

Is that a 1G DSM in the background? I'm guessing it's a Plymouth Laser since it has no spoiler (unless it was removed).

AltymanMar 6, 2008, 7:38 pm · #20

This is why there are so little nice old school cars in Quebec... winter kills them!

Keep up with the good work Frank...

I never had any DSM in my garage yet. The black car is a S13 Hatch and the purple one is a S13 convertible

Today i finished cleaning the interior, got the eurethane laid and made a "paint booth so i don't put overspray everywhere
Interior will be painted a light blue tomorrow (have to let the eurethane dry)
I used torch and a scraper to remove the tar on the rear wheel wells and it worked GREAT
I just heated the tar a little bit and after i used the scraper and it fell off pretty easely, after i used my wire brush to clean the rest of the glue. I'll let the picture speak for themselves

Thats what my car will look like soon enough, im excited and scared at the same time lol!

Did you remove the seam sealer?  Your car might be kinda whistly and water-penetrate-able if there is no sealer at all.

Some parts of the sealer were grinded however i have put new sealer
One thing that i find funny is that nissan FORGOT to put sealer in the rear passenger side near the taillight ... im lucky enough that no rust has formed there.

So I painted the car interior blue but I had to hurry because montreal was playing l.a. at 15h30! Hockey is important around here
I tought the blue was darker but it came a light blue ... not sure if I like it but it's a bit too late to go back now ...

nice work so far, is this going to be a track car or are you putting the interior back in?

FrankMar 8, 2008, 7:57 pm · #31
Dougnice work so far, is this going to be a track car or are you putting the interior back in?

No im not putting the interior back in. The car will still be used in the street but it will be mostly for the track and events. Im just saving myself the trailer. The car is still street legal EXCEPT for the handbrake (im using a hydraulic one. I redid the whole body harness and all the flashers/stoplight/backup light/markers/headlight are working normaly so i can keep the car on the street...
Im expecting to have some muffler tickets but I will make 2 mufflers for this car. One will be street legal and one will be straight trought. I'll just use a v-band to quickly and easely change the mufflers. Im also gonna weld studs to the muffler so they will be bolted to the hanger. This way i'll just have to remove 3 easely accessible bolts to change the mufflers. I like to work hard but not 2 times so that's why i want things easy and simple
AltymanMar 8, 2008, 11:07 pm · #32

Still alive? I guess you didn't go out in the storm, then... lol

You should come back to www.japoldschool.bravehost.com a few new members have joined in the last weeks, there's been a little bit of action going on, new projects showing... even a meet being planned for this coming summer!

Anyway, keep up with the good work!

FrankMar 19, 2008, 11:54 pm · #33

Worked on the car today

Installed the rear harness for lights/fuel pump/fuel sensor
I also had to try a s13 kit and it will fit with some small modification/trimming.
( I will use a Silvia front bumper but i had a 180sx one on hand so ignore the shape of the bumper )

It would be a pleasure to meet you somewhere

We have some kind of meets in montreal where alot of rwd/awd nissan gather.
Most of the people there are posers that think their GT-R/S13 is the best car ever made but there is alot of cool people with both feet on the ground.
