A few have asked where addco sways could be purchased and after trolling a bunch of sites, I finally found a site that does. However they only have the rear available? Anyway, here it is guys. Both IRS and solid rear sways available there

Addco still list front and rear sway bar part numbers on their site

The bar works but you will need to keep just about all your stock hardware to fit in onto the car.

www.shox.com sells them as well, you will have to call and ask them though as they're not listed on their site. they're local to me and ive personally done business with them a few times now and can say they're great people to work with!

summit still have them. fyi, for mk1 turbo ppl the only benefit for addco is the rear. the front has the same diameter, 25mm/1". apparantly lots of reading does give me the basic theory.

I have the Addco 1&1/8" in the front and I'm still waiting on the Nissan motosports adjusting 1" for the back. I'm thinking of canceling that order and having one made. Any advice.

LOL Good luck on finding that bar. It's made by Suspension Techniques, but they quit making it quite awhile ago. I have one of them, but right now, it's completely disconnected. I'm not even running a rear sway bar right now.

Oh, and I can't say enough about Addco. I have had their 1.125" front bar for over 10 years, and one of the swaybar mounts just broke. I called them directly to find out how I could purchase just the mount. They're sending me out new ones free of charge! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) And I didn't even have to ask.

...The V6 bar won't fit on the front? It should.

The V6 S12 front bar is 1-1/8" (If memory serves), and you can order those as an upgrade for the 4 banger guys. For the rear, yea 1" is the best you can do, but the CA20E cars already have the 1" rear bar.

any body tried the V6 sway bar on the turbo/non turbo model?
bigjerSep 11, 2007, 9:21 pm · #10

I've tried to get some at a local autoparts. The are a addco distributor but the S12 is no listed in their book. They tell me that if I come with the good item No. the should be able to get it. I've checked the application chart on the addco website but i'm kind of confused with their shart. I've got a MKI IRS and I want the rear one. Anyone can confirm me the item number plz (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I did it. I took half of the factory mount and half of the mount they gave me in the Addco kit and welded them together.

It seems that theres not much reason to even buy aftermarket swaybars if they're the same thickness. Curious if aftermarket and factory swaybars are the same stiffnes. I.E. carbon content of the steel used?

asparagusSep 12, 2007, 2:07 am · #13

If I remember correctly, they're a couple mm thicker. But I think what's more important is that the addco bars have less bends, and the bends are much less dramatic. Here's a comparo of my stock and new rear bars

The thickness and materials of construction are the most important parts.

The next most important thing (well technically most important, but the next most important think manufacturers change) is the length of the arms.

The bends along the main bit across the car dont change anything

asparagusSep 12, 2007, 10:20 am · #15

really? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused.gif) I just assumed that since there are less bends then the bar itself would be able to withstand more force (thus being stiffer)

OzchuckSep 12, 2007, 10:51 am · #16

Nah they only have bends on the stock bar for clearance and airflow and misc nissan reasons.

wheras adco made less bends to make it cheaper to make.
perhaps some very minor effect but nowhere near the effect of the arm length.

The length of the bar in the middle (as the crow flies) has some effect on how easy it is to twist, but not the bends on that axis
